FURCAR: Quicken Loans 400 Results and Standings by furcar

Hey everyone, croco here. Sorry it's taken me so long to get the results for the last race at Michigan up...guess that means our regular race reporter's got some splainin' to do. In reality though, a combination of being very busy with work and social obligations and feeling like crap in between has left me with little time and motivation to do other things. Though I will promise you a more detailed race report for this week's event...and it's gonna be a fun one cause we're going road racing in the California wine country this weekend at the Sonoma Raceway!

So this is basically the Cliff Notes version of what went down last weekend at the 2-mile Michigan International Speedway...

In qualifying, Wildfox took the pole after an uncharacteristic string of poor qualifying performances, with Croco Chilton starting alongside him. Both of the Crocosaur Racing cars were strong as Coco Bennington was fastest in the final practice session, though she would have her work cut out starting in 11th. But when raceday rolled around, the rain clouds moved in and halted the race three times, the first for an hour and a half over two separate red flag periods after the rain had stopped at laps 14 and 20. Another red flag would come out at lap 45 for 35 minutes, and the race looked to be good to go from there. But two laps after the race went back to green, Dart Wuffy would lose control of his car and hit the wall exiting turn 4, sparking suspicions that the track was still wet and this colorful radio conversation between Croco Chilton and his crew:

15 Spotter: Caution, caution--88 just wrecked behind us.
Croco: What the [#$^#!]! Just about lost it there myself--I swear there's still some wet spots on the [#$%^!] damn track!
Spotter: 10-4...don't see anything much up here--
Croco: I coulda swore there was some water on my windshield, and you mean to tell me that FURCAR's gonna send us back out on a track that's not fully dried off?!?
15 Crew Chief: Calm down, Croc. Still got a long way to go.
Croco: 10-4. Just. . .Dart got a raw [@#$%&!] deal there--hey (Spotter), did anyone hit him? I was underneath him and he got a little loose, but not enough for him to wreck.
Spotter: Uh, nope. Wiped out all by himself.
Croco: 10-4. . .raw [#$%^#@!] deal.

The caution would come out one more time for debris at lap 126, and Kasey the Husky would stay out in the hopes that the dark skies hovering over the speedway would bring the rain again to halt the race. So did Chilton, Draco Potens and Eddie T. Wolf as they were gambling on the rains to come as well. None of them would make it...and the race would be brought under yellow at lap 136, just two laps after Kasey had pitted for fuel, leaving the race lead...and eventually the win to Mitch Brown and the #41 team as the race was called at lap 138. Brown, who had missed a couple races earlier this year due to sponsorship difficulties, said that he was relieved to be back in Victory Lane, even if it was after a rain-out. Iceroad Lion would be scored in 2nd, with polesitter Wildfox 3rd, Coco Bennington 4th, and rookie William Megarda in 5th. Brown's victory would catapult him up to 2nd place in the season points, just 2 behind new leader Kasey the Husky, while previous leader Shockey Rai would drop all the way down to 5th after struggling to find the speed to keep his #54 Chevy SS up with the pack. Wildfox and Iceroad would move into 3rd and 4th respectively while keeping up their battle for the overall title, with Iceroad leading Wildfox in that by 13 points.
