Rest in peace by Iridium

http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6832927/

Doug Winger passed away today. There have been many touching tributes to him here and elsewhere. I had the pleasure of chatting with him on FurryMUCK only a few times, as I can be rather shy when around someone with Doug's reputation and ability and awesomeness. But I'm glad I did. The few conversations we had I will cherish.

I think I can say that I made him smile, even through my fannish behavior and gushing about how much I enjoyed his talent. I know he made me smile, and a lot more, with every sharing of his gift with the world. But giving someone a smile or a chuckle, sometimes that's all we can do over the great physical distance between us over this thing called the Internet.

Smiles and laughter are precious, and I am glad I got to share some with, and cause some in Mr. Winger.

Rest in peace, Doug. You will be missed a great deal.

Rest in peace

Though his illness robbed him of his ability to produce his amazing artwork long ago, the world feels a little colder in just knowing he's no longer with us.
I've put my memories here... Hope yours were just as good. <3

He was such a humorous chap :O Shame he's gone.

T'was fascinating watching him spin his clever sense of humor in his art. I didn't even realise the depth of some of his jokes until years later when I got to know more about animation and its history. A true shame I couldn't have gotten to know him sooner.

His art was always welcome. And the puns he added to them from time to time ranged from cringe worthy to downright gut-bustingly funny. He will be missed.
