Of Schedules and Commissions by Trae

The last year or so has been a real battle for me artistically, mainly because I've felt so burnt out for so long. No, I haven't jumped the shark, and yes I think now that I look back, I don't think I'd be able to make a proper career out of graphic design. Illustration or 3D or something like that, yeah, but I prefer to have the creativity really flow through that rather than end up being another cookie-cutter logo designer trying to keep up with everyone else in the name of being /fresh/. I am pretty damn anal about layout for sure, posters are pretty fun too, but what I'm going to be doing this year at college is a /lot/ more fun. :D

Simply put, the new course I'm in (which is actually the course I wanted to do two years ago) now involves a lot of 3D stuff. On top of that, there is a pretty damn good opportunity for me to really progress my work this semester and really try to build up my portfolio.

I don't think the amount of profuse apologies for making the people on my to-do list wait for their art for something like 18 months (and then some) will suffice, but this is the plan:

http://bit.ly/Yp3fOI <-- This is probably the first schedule that I've really wanted to get down on paper (metaphorically speaking), and I really do intend to stick to it. For those of you wary of short links to the unknown, the above link is essentially an image of my weekly schedule. It's going to involve a ton of art and studying (maybe even both), because ultimately what I do want is an awesome year, and not having to stress about not having enough time for anything. That in itself is a bullshit excuse, and I am fully aware of it.

Long story short I've made a shitload of time to get any outstanding art done, then I will be opening up for commissions as soon as I'm on my last one. I will only be taking one or two commissions max per week, and I promise I will have some pricing details for all of my options soon enough. Another thing though is that I will not be undertaking any commissions of a pornographic or fetish nature. The only exception would be artistic nudity but that would be it, and I will be clarifying what I will and won't do in due course. If there's a week where I don't have any commissions then I might be happy to use a couple of characters as guinea pigs for my experimentation, preferably characters whose features I would actually need to study in order to get, and may even be done as simple 3D sculpts to hone my skills in that department.
