These plans have been in the works now for quite some time, but I decided I wanted to make the announcement now; under two weeks remain before I will be married, after all! I haven't posted on the matter until now only because I have been absolutely swamped with work. Hopefully I can give the topic some of the discussion it deserves, though I'm sure I can only approximate my feelings on the matter; such things really are ineffable.

I've spent the last six and a half years dating noxurnal, and while we have had our ups and downs as any truly intimate couple does, I'm beyond delighted that we have spent the years together, as the most reliable and intimate of friends. She has truly been there for me, when absolutely nobody else has, and we have grown so close together that life apart is unimaginable. For the past three years, we have known that we want to spend the rest of our lives together, and marriage is an obvious step towards accomplishing that. We've planned on taking that step, and we are simply moving our plans forward by a year. There are several very personal reasons for the decision, but in addition to those, a very important reality is that we have waited so very long, and we are so very tired of spending day after day apart. It isn't the easy route, but it's the right one.

We're not planning on having a ceremony of any kind; it really isn't either of our style, in addition to being a frivolous waste of money and time. The courthouse will serve nicely! Her state performs same-sex marriage, so instead of giving money to my own, rather homophobic state, we'll just get married in hers for ideological reasons.

There's not much more to say about it really. I'm quite excited, and so is she! It's going to be a big step for us, but it's one I'm thrilled to take, one I have carefully considered, and one that I know will bring me contentment for the years to come.
