"... and that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it?" by Myuphrid

Y'know what's fun?

When I'm playing Elite: Dangerous and make a jump to another star system, only for Windows to decide it needs to restart for an update and minimise the game for a pop-up - pretty much exactly as I drop out of interstellar FTL right in front of the star.

So there's me frantically trying to dismiss the shut-down timer and re-open the game window to the sounds of cockpit alarms going off as my fighter is ploughing uncontrollably into the star's corona, before I can wrestle through the lag and point my ship on any vector that doesn't take me straight into scenic Cooked-To-Deathsville.

I've heard of computer issues causing trouble for spaceships, but this seems a bit much.
At least my fuel scoop got plenty of juice for my tank, though.

"Damn fool, I knew you were gonna say that."

That wasn't a glitch, you just ran into Yog-Sothoth ingame. Or some other unknown eldritch abomination. Out there be monsters.

The only monster involved was the programmer who didn't program the restart timer dialogue not to override fullscreen games.
