some thoughts on music by vibgyorc6

i really like the ways john cage, luigi russolo, karlheinz stockhausen, and pierre schaeffer, approached music. they "extended" music to include "non-musical" sounds such as factory noises, urban noises, machinery, nature sounds, etc and they basically innovated on the centuries-old music theory. i really like what russolo said in his manifesto, "the art of noises". he basically said that over time, since our species evolved and discovered music, music theory has evolved as well to what we now know today. in his manifesto, he says music is in need of change in order to accomodate the new noises that we hear today thanks to the industrial revolution, and that means changes to music theory. i basically agree with that and it inspires me. i am really inspired to execute and expand on their ideas because i think they were truly onto something new and exciting and even quite alien.
