It seems to me, that employers today want both qualifications AND experience. While it isn’t too difficult to get either, it seems increasingly hard to get both. This is especially true in the IT sector, where employers are looking for over 2 years experience as well as the relevant qualifications. I guess with the push for people to gain qualifications, employers need something to decide between candidates.

The biggest problem with this, is that people get trapped between needing experience and not being able to get it. I am one of those stuck in this position and it is very frustrating. It is especially frustrating when the only feedback is ‘Sorry we have taken on someone with more experience’.
