New year, new changes!! (Update) by quaggy

Hey friends!!

It's been a while since I posted any kind of real update, but to be perfectly honest - I've been super busy! The last few months have been exciting, terrifying, daunting, a ton of work and a load of planning for some big changes.

Between my regular day job, preparation for MWFF, the holidays, end of the year busywork, getting ready to move, and general life injections of little problems into my schedule (like a dead car battery adventure, new health issues, and scheduling problems with my job), I haven't had much time! It gets really rough for me this time of year because of mental health conditions, and 2014 wasn't my best year for my physical health, either. I discovered a lot of issues and spent a lot of time, effort, and research trying to make sure I was taking care of myself. In the winter that's gotten difficult to balance with my mental health along with all of my other responsibilities, and I'm sad to say I've been kind of absent as a result of that! It's the start of a new year, though, and like I said, there are a lot of changes ahead that I'm excited about and feeling ready to tackle.

This month is going to continue to be a busy one, but hopefully I'll be able to be a little more active now that I don't have the holidays hanging over my head, or any conventions coming too immediately. If you got something during MWFF that hasn't been mailed to you yet, I'll be shipping everything out within the next two weeks, depending mainly on my ability to make a trip to the post office! I'm working six days this week and have an appointment to run some tests related to a health issue on my only day off, so I only can't promise it'll be sooner because of that! I promise anyone waiting will receive notification from me once their stuff is in the mail, though.

The last batch of Polyvore/fashion commissions has been completed and those will be uploaded once I have time to go over all of the final touches and changes, but that should be rather quick since I can work around my work schedule with that!

With all of that taken care of, my art-related queue is nearly empty, which is a nice way to start off the year. I'll be doing Valentine's Day cards again this year, which I'll open for once the Polyvore commissions are uploaded and the MWFF things are sent out - so if you're interested, keep an eye out!

Anyway, I hope you are all doing well! Do any of you have new year's resolutions or things you'd like to see happen this year? Feel free to share them below, I miss connecting with people and I'd love to hear how you're all doing!

It was so good to see you at MFF! I'm hoping to make a lot more content this year and dedicate more time and energy to my own personal projects once my commission backlog is cleared.

It was wonderful seeing you as well!! I'm looking forward to seeing you produce more, especially personal projects!!

I'm going to try and take better care of myself and make some more friends, but those aren't really resolutions I guess? Idk 2014 was a rollercoaster, I want 2015 to be more like a ferris wheel- there will always be ups and downs but I want to appreciate the ups longer when I got 'em.

Starting at the bottom of the ride though- I came out as a lesbian and had to initiate a breakup and it's probably one of the hardest things I've ever done. But I guess this ain't the place for that.

Anyway I'm super glad to hear from you! You've been so quiet on twitter and everywhere else.

That's a really good way to look at it! I feel like my 2014 was less of a rollercoaster and more like a...drop tower. I had a good start to the year and then just kind of plummeted for most of the rest, then slowed to an easy (but frazzled) stop at the very end. So as long as there are more highs, I'll be happier with 2015. Going with the ride metaphor, though, I feel like I'm still standing outside the ride trying to decide if I want to get in line.

I'm really proud of you for coming out, though! It can be tough no matter what the particulars, but it's never easy having to make other dramatic changes in your life at the same time, so even though it was rough, it's nice to hear you made those steps. I'm sorry it's such a low and difficult time, but if you need or want someone to talk to, I'd love to chat any time! I'm busy a lot but if you have Skype I'd love to add you on there, at the very least. I'm sorry for my essential radio-silence, it's just kind of a bad side effect of...well, 2014, haha! But I have missed you and I'm happy to hear from you as well!

Yeah I got Skype! My username's ohopossum there as well. ohopossum@gmail.com if you need an email to do that, I'm not too familiar with Skype tbh.

And no need to apologize, when you're busy you're busy! I have a pretty routine 9 to 5 life right now so I'm pretty much gone during the day mon-fri then home at night and on weekends.

I always hit enter way too soon - I meant to say thank you. For both your encouragement and your offer to talk. :P I'd love to talk to you more!
