Issues with illustration by Sakke

The chief problem I have with drawing is it's like talking in a foreign language. It's all just keyphrases and mnemonics that export your native thought process into a foreign language. And it's painfully slow, and frustrating being unable to express yourself through that route.

There's also the problem of underlying theory. Like many physical sciences and programming etc. advancing in it only becomes possible once one learns the basic concepts and structures underneath it. I used to say that there's just a couple thousand crap pages of drawings in anyone (couple hundred burnt electronics projects, couple hundred crappy woodworking projects) - but that only applies if you're content to stick with the level you have achieved and don't wish to advance that skill further.

I lack life drawing and sculpture experience for that three dimensional aspect of things, and there's always the lure of easily defined two dimensional references that you can just trace by squares or some other horrible method that your subconscious mind reverts to even when you're trying to do something completely different. Slight changes in angle, always too easy to fake even if you know the end result will look fake.

Also, will probably be importing some of my old FA stuff here and reorganizing the gallery sometime after the turn of year, and dumping the rest. Maybe cleaning up this page a bit. Thinking of leaving the FA page just as a watcher account.
