Hey folks, I just came across this site in class during a discussion about "completing one's own work" and how that can be so difficult because of the emotional investment in one's own ideas and so forth. It can be hard for me to finish my ideas because I feel like I have to take responsibility for it somehow, and so if it's not perfect, that's my fault and I need to be ashamed that I didn't do it right. So that's my problem. Here's one solution to getting the practice in.

It comes up with a number of simple or elaborate art prompts to get ideas flowing. I recommend the "elaborate" setting. The ideas generally do a good job of putting ideas in my head without me having to think too hard about it. I'm sure you could find others. Here are some example prompts:

Color scheme: cool. Mood: grief. Theme: cats and dogs.

Create a portrait of a sassy serf without using any characteristic normally associated with that sort of person.

Create a series of before and after pieces on the theme of wild beast.

Using indigo colors, create a picture of an unapproachable beauty in a bazaar. Theme: azure.

Using yellow colors, evoke a sense of schadenfreude and place the subject in dreams. Try a medieval style.

I find this engine tempting, but I think I'll stick to outsourcing prompts to people for the moment.
