Connecting with Followers? by SpartaDog

I've noticed a lot of popular artists seem to have a really open relationship with their followers. I'd like to do that, as well, but I'm not totally sure how.

The most common method I see is streaming often. Which....I try to do, but sometimes personal issues make it difficult. When I do stream, I always seem to get the same group of about 5 people in. Which is great, I love having you guys in all the time! I'd just like to diversify a little and I'm not totally sure how to draw more people in. I know a lot of artists have a large group of stream regulars that they know fairly well and I'm a little jealous! I've been considering streaming regularly (like, every Saturday at 8 pm or whatever) but I'm a bit worried I won't be able to maintain it.

So what do you guys think? Is regular streaming a good idea? Do you have other ideas? What do YOU enjoy seeing artists do to connect with fans?

Just opening up to comments like this is pretty cool :3 Regular streaming is nice but if you don't feel you could maintain it I wouldn't suggest it, that may only lead to undue stress.

Yeah that's what I'm kind of worried about lol. I don't want to annoy my followers if I can't maintain it, or wear myself out, or anything. But at the same time I think making a schedule could be good for me. Who knows, I guess we'll see lol. Thank you!

I should really pay closer attention. If I knew you'd been streaming I would have showed up!
I agree with xhyra about opening up to comments. "Thank you" is nice, but it's not really a good way to connect with followers.
    Keep it up.

Hahah that's okay! It's been a while since I've streamed (except for Saturday but literally NO ONE showed up for that so I'm not counting it). I always post announcements when I do stream though so just keep an eye out, I'm sure you'll catch one eventually c:

Yeah I try to respond with a little more than "thank you" XD Thanks for the input!

Replying to comments as often as possible is how i try to do it, personally i have a hard time actually connecting with my watchers or people i look up to though so from the other stand point?

Acknowledging presence is good though if nothing is said it's hard to do that x'D
Ask how things are going during streams?
I'm probably not the best for advice on this as I'm awful at communicating personally but this may help a little?

I definitely reply to comments as much as possible, as long as they give me something to reply to (i.e. more to the comment than just "wow thats cool" lol).

And yeah! I always try to talk to people during streams. My regulars are usually pretty good about holding a conversation but newcomers tend to be a little quieter/shier so it's a little more difficult XD But I definitely make the effort! Thank you!

usually if they reply like that i'm like
        "lol thanks"
        xD
        short response

        I'M THAT NEWCOMEROMG -diesonthefloor-
i never know what to say when i get into streams so i just kinda sit there and... wait... for an opportunity.... or sometimes i disappear if i feel like super out of the conversation. i need to make more of an effort methinks xD

Hahah well I try to be engaging, especially with newcomers. But sometimes it just keeps failing so I give up and work silently XD BUT YES if you ever come in my stream don't be afraid to talk! Even if you're just rambling about your day or some TV show you just watched or something you think is completely irrelevant or insignificant! I just like talking c:

            sounds good to me 8>
-must become more active in streams!-
i'll keep an eye out for streams from you :D

I personally haven't had any experience with it, but I know with many other artists have noticed a slow increase in viewers, when they had a scheduled streaming session. So I say try it, it does seem to have positive results.
