    That is true.

If people have the time to complain about a site they have no control over (whatsoever), perhaps they should reevaluate their priorities. I don't complain, i jsut interact with people and continue doing what i'm doing and that has been mostly drama free for me (and that's fine). People should really fucking try be more productive rather than wasting their time complaining about something they have little influence in.

      • Link

correction, i technically am complaining about something now XP

        • Link

We are all human, and we have our faults. You realized it, and that's good, but sometimes we have down time.

          • Link

Sometimes i'm rather self-aware of things, but sometimes i'm wondering if people think before they type. Seriously, seeing this stuff on weasyl only makes it feel like tumblr.

Perhaps if they want people to come check it out, they should act by example, not be a whiny little bitch >~<

            • Link

True. Still, it's like saying " I bet you I could stop gambling"...It just never stops.

              • Link

It's like this statement is false.

                • Link

                  essentially.
It's why some artists i've lost respect for and others i want no interaction from if they want to be so negative about it.

                  • Link

Reasonable. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but don't be disrespecting something.

                    • Link

eh, i'm not here to disrespect people.
Still, it's hard to continue following someone when they become a hypocrite

                      • Link

Ya, but we all are hypocrites at some point. If they continue to be, then we say goodbye.

                        • Link

I just had enough with one of them in particular. >~<

                          • Link

Heh, we all have one person that dubs us the wrong way.

                            • Link

                              indeed.
also, in not using DA or FA, they lose out on checking out some cool people, like this guy's (who is also a friend) sweet animations and art: http://fav.me/d84mwnk

                              • Link

I'm actually subscribed to him already...

                                • Link

                                  didn't know ^^;
But yeah, all eggs in one basket? not that bright of a decision

  • Link

It only works if you work there

    • Link

i don't quite understand what you mean

      • Link

complaining about it only helps if you can actually do something about it, for example, you work for DeviantArt, and can fix it

        • Link

          So what's the point then?
Unless they want a meaningful conversation, it just makes them look terrible

  • Link

Neither does complaining about age-old happenings, it just fuels the furnace more.

  • Link

Complaining often is a start, it then brings up a conversation about the situation. If someone can provide evidence to why they have a stance to complain from, then others can take it and shape their view of it from there.

Doing something about it takes a lot of people willing to work together, and /that/ will never happen if everyone is willing to shut each other down when they want to talk about it.

    • Link

Yeah, but most of what I see is just them bitching that it sucks and that's it

    • Link

If people want a meaningful conversation, whining like I'm some journals I see isn't going to help. I'd rather have a meaningful debate as to WHY the person doesn't like those sites. That's better than just saying "it sucks!" or "it's evil" or "weasyl is superior!".

      • Link

        In*

      • Link

I've seen plenty of the opposite, people who give their input and thoughts and get told no one cares or to stop bitching

      • Link

Oh I forgot to include the point, the point is to just ask them their reasons, if they don't provide any call them a donut and walk away

        • Link

Considering this is the Internet, there's a likelihood they'll ignore/block out questions

It's worth a shot though, but who knows

          • Link

If they do, then ignore it

            • Link

Hey rowed? Sorry if this is bugging you. And thanks for hearing me out

  • Link

I think it depends on the kind of "complaining."
Complaining is generally seen as a negative thing, and people just push it off as "bitching" and "whining."
But I say I have to agree with rowedahelicon on this one.

There have been plenty of people who "complain" and offer good input on what can be fixed/changed.
I'm one of those people. I hate where dA is going, and I've given multiple suggestions to the admins as to what could be changed to make it more user and "art" friendly.
People have told me that I "bitch" too much about where dA is going, and I honestly don't. I am unhappy and as a PAYING user of that site, I offer suggestions as to what could be changed.

It's one thing to complain just to "bitch and whine" and offer no helpful solution, but it's another thing to complain to actually try to change something.
If people keep shutting other people down just for raising a point, then the issue will go nowhere.
People will be afraid to raise concerns because they'll get yelled at, or people will just laugh and point and call them a "whiner."
That example might be a little extreme, but it's just the general idea.

I guess long story short is to just let those people complain. Ignore those who are "bitching" or if it upsets you and listen/read to those that offer suggestions on how to make things better. You never know. That one person that complains may be the one that actually causes a good change for the site that they're complaining about.
A site is NOTHING without the people who use it. DeviantART, FurAffinity, even Weasyl here, would be empty and useless if no one used it.
The people on the site influence it way more than you think. They are the structure that holds the entire thing together. If the structure falls, the whole building goes with it.

    Just something to think about.

    • Link

No yeah, I get your point. My argument is mostly directed at people who just generally hate DA and FA and don't really give any reason as to why, they just bitch.

I've seen your arguments on DA before, and i know about that, so no worries there; DA is weird about its changes and FA does tend to be...well FA.

    • Link

      And thanks.

      • Link

What he said. We can bitch and whine but if we make good points that sway people's opinions to the "right" choice (to leave FA) without forcing people to read it, then is that really a bad thing?

        • Link

          How subtle XP

It's only really bad if there's no compelling argument and the person is just spouting their hate (which i have seen) for the sites.

Are there problems with FA (and possibly DA)? I'm sure there is, but so long as people don't really see a reason to leave, not much is going to change. A quote from someone on one of Aurabeedit's journal summed up why people still come to FA "It's a necessary evil", and it's sadly true, even for me. If i didn't have that site, i wouldn't have met a number of people and artists i like as well as get some of the (productive) criticism for my art (which i still thank electrocat for.

I'm not saying this can't be done on weasyl, but as it stands, this site doesn't have the community to back up budding artists like myself, and with how it is, only the currently popular artists will still get it's income here (as well as feedback). It's why i have two backup sites, but i'm not completely unaware of the present issues. If people really want change for either sites, then why not lead by example instead of just complaining why it sucks?

To be honest, i'm surprised people haven't gotten together to voice a problem/opinion directly as a group <_<
