Important plastic robot milestones (Transformers SJWs OMG) by ericthemoogle

So recently I got my hands on these:
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Windblade#Generations
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/The_Transformers:_Windblade

Why do I bring this up? I bring this up because of the origins of the Windblade character:
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Windblade#Notes
For those who hate links or wikis, Windblade is a character created for the 30th anniversary of the Transformers franchise. She was designed by the fans; specifically, a series of polls were held on Hasbro's website to choose all the elements of design.
Including the fact that she is, in fact, a "she." There was some pushback against this; dudebros got all angry that "female" was an option, spouting bullshit about how "Cybertronians are asexual robots," despite apparently being totes cool that "male" was also an option. In spite of this, Windblade was still voted to be female.
In addition, the kick-awesome comic series where she is totally kick-awesome actually had to retcon the nature of female Transformers to work new characters into the story, which undid some stuff by long-time fan favorite Transformers comic writer Simon Furman. People got angry about this, including Furman himself; the comic still went on to be a fan favorite. I should also note that the comic was written and arted by a pair of long-time Transformers fans. (both women, for the record)
What I'm trying to say is that Windblade is incredibly important and also pretty great.

I would also like to point out that the same continuity that Windblade resides in has its own gay couple:
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Chromedome_(G1)#IDW_Generation_1_continuity
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Rewind_(G1)#IDW_Generation_1_continuity
and that the series of books wherein these two were a couple (before Rewind's tragic death) was also written by a team of long-time fans. The books and characters are also fan favorites.

Break out the "social justice warrior" cliche against me if you must for going on about this at length, but... man, that kinda makes you think, don't it?
