New roommate, new restaurant, new semester, new games by DeRiften

Tuesday: Team presentation went well enough but the AI project wasn't finished so we bit the bullet and took the 20% penalty to have two extra days, in vain. We then used the rest of the class to finish the UI project and rid it of bugs, so I headed home with the freshly transferred version on my USB key, planning to integrate it to my individual project the next day.

Wednesday: Ends up it didn't transfer right and got corrupted, so I had to do a last-minute minimalist UI that isn't fully functional. I should lose about 5% because of that fuck-up. Nevertheless, it wasn't worth taking the penalty to have an extra day to work on it just for that so I handed it over in time and did the exam, which was surprisingly easy and simple. I was the first to finish to I treated myself to a tuna wrap from Subways.

Thursday: Rendering exam was also surprisingly easy and simple, but it had ten pages of "short answers" questions so my wrist was dead by the end it. Again, I was the first one to finish.

Friday: Of course, we found some last-minute bugs in the UI project and we didn't manage to fix 'em all. Gotta love unorganized teams, eh? But I made a decision. I have to choice to work in a team or alone for the final project next semester so since I had such a horrible team experience this semester and found out that everyone in class is completely useless because none of 'em have any semblance of organization or time management skills and don't know teamwork, I'll work on my project alone since it's going in my portfolio and I don't want other people to ruin it once again. When I came back, I ordered Chinese from a new restaurant that opened nearby, opened up a bottle of wine and celebrated the end of this dreadful semester. Food took over an hour to arrive but it was really good; much better than the one I was ordering from before. Sadly, it's pretty expensive. Oh well, I also received my new schedule already and it's pretty refreshing.

Monday: Project from 5:00pm to 10:00pm
Tuesday: Job searching from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, followed by Project from 6:00pm to 10:00pm
Wednesday: Project from 8:00am to 12:00pm, followed by Networking from 6:00pm to 10:00pm
Thursday: Advanced programming from 1:00pm to 5:30pm
Friday: Job searching from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, followed by Project from 6:00pm to 10:00pm

Sounds packed and deadly? Well here's the thing. Project is completely optional to attend in class since it's not a class and just meant for team meetings or asking questions to your supervisor. Since, I'm planning to work on my final project alone, I won't need team meetings and since I'm friends with my supervisor and have him on Skype, I won't need to meet him in class when I'll need help, so remove all the Project classes from the schedule and you get:

Monday: Nothing.
Tuesday: Job searching from 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Wednesday: Networking from 6:00pm to 10:00pm
Thursday: Advanced programming from 1:00pm to 5:30pm
Friday: Job searching from 1:00pm to 5:00pm

Looks more manageable now, doesn't it? Best thing is it's the useless teacher who teaches Advanced programming, so consider that a free time class to work on other things. I'm finally gonna have free time again to play games. I also finished another Dragon Age book, the one that's a sequel to the other one I read before that hypes things up for the third game. It certainly hypes up another side of the game so I can see there's a shitload of conflicts going on and Orlais is the source of it. Wanna know why the Veil is shattered all across Thedas? Orlais, that's what.

Saturday: I decided to take a break from Final Fantasy XIII to play the new Borderlands game and it's pretty good. I think the second one is better since it doesn't have that annoying low gravity bullshit that makes you die all the time because you get sent flying a kilometer away and into a hole from a single bullet and you just keep slipping around and overshooting your jumps. Oh well, it's still pretty enjoyable and it's a nice change to see the other side's version of things. I'm around 15 hours in and I've yet to see how Jack became a villain. So far it's looking like he's actually a hero that saved Pandora and its moon. After I ate supper though, I started feeling so awful I puked and had to lay down in bed and shift around uncomfortably for an hour before I started feeling fine again, so I recovered by reading a few chapters of another Dragon Age book; the dessert my grandma gave me last week apparently went bad, I didn't know peanut butter could go bad but I should have suspected something when it didn't have any smell.

Sunday: Kept playing Borderlands TPS and didn't do much else. Watched a stream but mostly played the game. Oh and also, my landlord's husband's brother moved in on the couch from Cameroon less than a week ago and he's pretty awesome. He has a big baby face with huge nostrils, almost no nose, and he's like a child that only talks about Naruto and video games. He has a beanie, gloves and jacket on inside 'cause he says it's too cold and he says it hurts when he goes outside and he feels like his fingers are gonna fall off, despite it being around 10C. It's pretty adorable, he spends his evenings sitting on my bed playing SNES games on my 3DS while watching me play FF XIII or Borderlands TPS. I've gotta say, he's the best roommate I've had even if it's only temporary till he finds an actual place to live.
