Monday: When the animation teacher went around class to see the progress of everyone on their semester project, he was disappointed when literally no-one but me had even started it. These people aren't gonna make it far in life if they don't take anything seriously. I mean I know they were busy with AI or at least that's the excuse they use (most of 'em will "finish" (read start) it the night before it's due, mysteriously show up exhausted at class the next day and STILL hand it over late). Teacher helped me with a few things I asked him and my project is going smoothly. After that my team and I had a meeting with him to talk about the UI semester project which we decided to do about the animation semester project. Sounds easy so it'll probably be a bitch to do.

Tuesday: We actually talked about the project in AI class and I learned a few things that I'll need to apply to my raytracing algorithm to optimize it. See, right now it only checks one side of the ray so if that side meets an obstacle, it'll return false even though the other side might have worked but to go even farther, it could alternate between the two sides to check thoroughly if the shortest path is free or not, while still being efficient time-wise. An hybrid of some sort. After that, my team and I brainstormed about the grid scanning algorithm and came up with a few ideas, which I confirmed with the teacher who then debunked all of 'em with a much more efficient method; seems he does have some good ideas every once in a while. After that we had the mid-semester/final exam in Methodologies and it was surprisingly easy, considering the teacher is usually super strict. Figure, he's not the strictest one this semester so maybe it just appeared easy? The rest of the class was dedicated to working on the methodologies semester project, which we decided to do about the UI semester project, which we decided to do about the animation semester project. We didn't do much though since they hadn't finished compiling their notes from the meeting the day before, so we left early.

Wednesday: Class was dedicated to the animation semester project so of course, most people left and those who remained worked on other projects instead, namely AI since my team is the only one who didn't choose to do their UI semester project about AI. My team worked a bit on organizing the Hansoft/Perforce project for methodologies/UI/animation, and I left early again. I didn't slack off though, since when I say "my team", I mean I did all the organization myself and the rest of the team worked on making the designs and prototype for the UI project. I hate using Powerpoint for prototypes so I opted out and said I'd work more on the real thing.

Thursday: Surprise, another useless rendering class, followed by more working on the methodologies project, AKA left early. I mean, I'd already done the organizing the day before so there wasn't anything else to do.

Friday: Leaving early sure was a trend this week, 'cause that's what I did again. This time though it was forced 'cause the UI class was dedicated to the other teams interviewing the teacher for their project since they chose to do theirs about AI, so we didn't belong. I also finished reading my book that night. Around half of the book, I couldn't resist reading one more chapter or actually going to bed early so I could read another extra one 'cause I was so hooked. The end of the book is really sad but the ending is satisfying, really epic and a huge cliffhanger that sets the mood for the third game and makes me even more hyped. I convinced a friend to buy it and ordered the other books 'cause I really like reading a chapter or two in bed by lamplight before going to sleep, and I decided to actually watch Game of Thrones instead of reading the books.

Saturday: After watching a video of Dungeon Defenders, I decided to buy it but apparently I already owned the game despite it not being in my game library. I won't complain since I ended up playing it most of the day, when I wasn't catching up with streams. It's a pretty good game but quickly repetitive so I'm glad I didn't buy it after all.

Sunday: I was in a mood for stealth games so I bought Thief and while it downloaded, I finished catching up with streams. I then played it for a while and it's good enough. A bit clunky at times and feels pretty slow but that's to be expected from a gate that spent seven years in development limbo due to going bankrupt and getting bought several times, along with redoing the game design entirely multiple times (just making the lockpicking system took four months, and it's pretty simplistic). By the evening, I've had this annoying headache since the day before so I wasn't really in the mood to start working on stuff. I also received news from my sickly teammate and... she quits. Well, not fully. She won't work on the AI project anymore and she most likely won't work on any coding whatsoever but she'll stay in class just to supervise the other teammate who wouldn't do anything without her, just so the team doesn't go down. Her condition's gotten to the point where she sleeps 20 hours a day so she'll sleep in class but just because she's there, the other guy will work so I'm glad she's at least doing that 'cause otherwise, it'd mean failure for the rest of the team. Tomorrow I'm planning to work on my animation project's gameplay, then work on my ants' raytracing and grid scanning algorithms if I have time. It's not a big rush though since pretty much the rest of the semester is dedicated to working on stuff and we've finished seeing theory for the most part.
