Half a decade old antface by DeRiften

Monday: Day off last week because of Zynga, day off this week because of Labor's Day. Even if it wasn't Labor's Day, I couldn't have done the groceries 'cause my money is late. I think I remember them telling me I'd need to do something in August but I don't remember what; I'll have to call them if I still don't have money tomorrow. They could be late because of the weekend and Labor's Day.

Tuesday: Found out what's wrong with my ants is that I was using MyAntsData which, contrary to what the name suggests, doesn't actually provides info about your ants. Well, it does but the thing is, it also provides info about everybody's ants and since it doesn't differentiate, you can't use it at all. Figured the only thing I'd have to do would be to switch to MyAnts which I know is all about your ants only. Worked on 'em today since it was too hot yesterday, and I'm done with everything except the damn command line. I wasn't expecting to spend the entire day working on this project alone but ends up it's more complicated than just switching over to MyAnts. See, the engine has Alzheimer's and doesn't remember which ant was where the last turn; it flushes everything and starts anew, rereading the map each turn and since it doesn't give each ants an individual index, the first ant it finds is 0 and the last one is x so again, can't use that. Also can't touch the engine itself and make it better so it's actually efficient because that'd screw with Python and the competition, so I had to work around and thanks to a really obscure and probably inefficient way to work with classes, I managed to do everything but yeah, stuck on the very last thing that was added as a criteria at the last minute. I need to make it so you can add arguments to the command line in order to tweak the game's settings and supposedly make it easier to debug but that thing just annoys me to no ends and the teacher is, as usual, very slow to reply and I'm pretty sure he'll just say he can't help so I'll just look at it again tomorrow and see if it fixed itself. If not, I'll compare codes with a classmate again.

Then there was my first video game development methodologies class (quite the mouthful, eh?). Easily one of the most important classes in the entire program and it's got the right teacher: the strict one that doesn't mess around and manages to make even easy classes intensely hard. I feel I'm gonna have fun with this one.

Wednesday: I check my college email a few times each day, which is way more often than most do. I check in the morning, at lunch, at college before class and in the evening when I get back. Say the class starts at 6:00pm. That means I check it around 9:00am, 11:30am, 5:30pm and 10:30pm. That's reasonable, right? Well, teacher sent an email at 3:30pm to say that we'd be watching tutorials to make up for lost time so we'd need to bring our headphones. Of course I didn't see it, so I didn't bring my headphones and the result is that I got back home early.

Thursday: Complete waste of time. First, I learned absolutely nothing in rendering class and then, the teacher never showed up in methodologies so half an hour after the class started, I left. Ends up he arrived shortly after 'cause I have stuff to read now. Made up by working on my UI project at the last minute because I just couldn't find my teammate on Skype and he's a slacker that doesn't do anything unless you're working with him. Had to make a prototype on Powerpoint, which I had never used before. The project itself took about two hours and most of it was reading tutorials to find out how the heck you're supposed to make anything other than slides with this piece of shit.

Friday: Handed over the UI project, got criticized by the artist slave-driver because it was rushed and sloppy-looking. So sorry I'm not an artist. Rest of the class went well enough, we won't start the next part of the project before sometimes this week when we decide to sit down together to brainstorm on it. Oh and FaceRig came out that day so I was spazztastic. That thing is the best thing ever and I spent the evening showing it to pretty much everyone on my friends list. Funny thing is, it came out on my 5th furday. Perfect coincidence, isn't it?

Saturday: By this time I really and I mean REALLY needed a break so I watched videos and played Torchlight II part of the day but I found myself bored after a bit and already ready to go back to work. I knew I needed more rest so I begrudgingly kept on playing random games and watching random videos.

Sunday: I was planning to start working on stuff since I have quite the pile of work to do: Antgame to finish by tomorrow, 45 minutes of animation tutorials to watch and copy, 30 minutes of speedrunning coding to do, about 55 slides to read for methodologies and a shitty 3D engine to install and make work for rendering. Ended up doing absolutely nothing because it was too damn hot.

After today's work, I'm bushed and don't feel rested at all anymore. This is gonna be a long week, I might go watch a movie or something tomorrow to relax if my money's arrived.
