That's how long my insurance agent says it will take until my house is nearly livable again.
That's the better half of a year. That's the dead of February .
Fuck the insurance industry.

All the contractors I talked to made mention of that fact, smelling smoke for years. The smoke permeates the wood and, apparently, on rainy days it causes the joists in that part of the house to release that smell.
So much would have been tolerable if the smoke didn't get everywhere.

Unfortunately, fire and smoke just ravage homes. There's a huge amount of work that goes into repairing them. Even afterwards, some of the homeowners continue to insist that they can smell smoke inside, psychosomatically, because of the trauma they've endured.
Hang tight, man. You'll get there.
