Yet another IM thing + some audio stuff by Tiido

So I guess I am going to stay on Skype, some of the annoyances will never go away but there's not much I can do about it for time being, too many cool people that I cannot just disappear from it hahaha.

Most annoying things :

  • Selecting any unfocused Skype window takes 3 seconds for it to appear, CPU at 100% during this time.
  • When typing CPU goes periodically to 100%
  • Everything is ginormous, the compact mode is not compact enough...
  • It is hard to tell if a contact is offline or not in the chat window, only indication is a tiny icon... older version had text in titlebar indicating that, and Miranda IM even shows the times when status changes in the chat window so it is impossible to miss.

The first two are especially annoying when I have my music tool running. It takes a lot of time for me to juggle between windows and write responses... Maybe this only happens on Win XP ? I should try to look at couple older versions that can still log on, maybe there's one that behaves better.

Here's a rundown of the accounts I use :

MSN, Gtalk/Hangouts - tmeeco@gmail.com
AIM, YIM - tiidonaator
ICQ - 438792675
Skype - tiiido

That's it with the IM drama LOL, now for more häppy stuff such as rebuilding my other amp so it is much more awesome.

Yesterday I gutted my Amfiton U-101 and started to rework it. I wish I had started to take photos sooner hahaha. The gutting process was interesting.

I have been using LM3886 chips in it for years now because the original poweramp parts kept on dying all time and had other various issues. The LM provides enough power so they stay. I neatened up the wiring and improved couple things though :D
I'm gonna have to find some nice opamps to use, all the fancy stuff seems to cost a little too many €
There's also going to be some digitalness in the thing, but to control which outputs are active and also handle speaker protection stuff. Couple logic chips is all it takes, or maybe I'll go fancy and use a CPLD LOL.
Having a digital audio input would be cool though, I'll have to see if there's any ready made SPDIF to I2S converters...

Now it is time to eat. Sõrniks nomnomnomnom : http://www.tmeeco.eu/BitShit/AwesomeLunch11.jpg

When there is a power shortage my notebook freezes. Guess who's responsible for that.
I've long come to accept companies are doing their best to worsen every single aspect of using a computer, so we need to appreciate their effort by dealing with it. >_<

I'm the one who doesn't deal with it and lives in past when things were good, or the very least less bad... lol.
