Who remembers Adlib/OPL2/3? by IceDragonDee
Not me but I do know that it can sound like utter rubbish and sounded as such in most DoS games when it was used.
But over in Korea, through 1995-98 there was this neat little sequencer which apparently was used in their demoscene called Note; which used TRUE 4-OP FM synthesis instead of 2-OP with OPL3 waveforms.

I actually have heard of Madbrain, and I do love his Adlib music.
He can even make the VRC7 sing, too

You should look up a guy called Madbrain. He makes the OPL3 do some really sweet stuff !
I got OPL3 in my computer :P (part of the YMF719 chipset)
