Silent Hills? by TeezyBird

Ok so I'm really, really excited about the new Silent Hill game.
While Guillermo Del Toro is my favorite director it's not his presence in the project that's making me so hyped, as being good at directing movies doesn't necesarilly mean he'll be good at telling a story through a video game, but a lot of members of Team Silent are returning and I'm just so so excited about that.

I'm not terribly keen on the first person thing, since I think a large strength of the series is that the protagonists are presented in such a way that you don't think 'I'm looking for my dead wife' you think 'James is looking for his dead wife' while still being extremely immersive and I think the third person is a big part of it. (Plus the horror market's really oversaturated with first person stuff imo.)
I'm also not terribly keen on the title being Silent Hills, it's really baffling. It's not like you can really pluralize a town.

Ultimately though I'm really looking forward to this game though. The series means so much to me and odd as it sounds it was a really big source of comfort to me through some really unpleasant chapters of my life. It's nice to finally see things looking up for the series after Homecoming and Downpour were so disappointing.

I am weird about the pluralization too but I suppose it might make sense once the game starts. I am so excited for all the same reasons though, I really hope this one delivers. I miss the feel of this franchise.

Yeah. My best guess for the pluralization is maybe it'll focus really heavily on the Otherworld and all that jazz. I've missed the feel of the franchise so much, too. It's kinda weird because when I looked back and really examined why I wasn't keen on Downpour and Homecoming it's that they both felt like they were trying too hard to capture the feel of Silent Hill 2 without much success, which made them lose the strengths of their own atmospheres and stories in the process. (Homecoming especially.)
I'm really hoping we get back into the strong monster designs of the older games, too.
