My journal of martial arts, movies and veganism. by Mythil

One of my favourite vegan books is "The China Study". Now I have some background in nutrition though only as it applies to animals (varying from species to species).

The problem I have is when people try and say that The China Study, which was conducted by two Doctors who are leaders in the field of nutrition, Harvord, Yale, Cambridge University and The Chinese Institute of Nutrition was flawed or a fraud. Okay, so where is your evidence? Usually, they will point you to a blog called rawfoodsos where the blogger (Denise Minger) has decided to pick apart the science in the book. The problem with this is, as pointed out by the books authors:

  1. DENISE MINGER WAS FOUND USING IMPROPER UNADJUSTED RAW UNIVARIATE STATISTICAL CORRELATIONS THUS DEBUNKING HER OWN CONCLUSIONS.

  2. DENISE MINGER FAILED TO UNDERSTAND THE CHINA STUDY'S RESEARCH FINDINGS.

  3. DENISE MINGER PICKED OUT ONLY 1/18th OF THE DATA IN THE CHINA STUDY AND ONLY CHERRY PICKED AND LOOKED AT A TINY 0.05 PORTION. ABOUT WHICH SHE TURNED OUT TO BE ALSO INCORRECT AS WELL.

  4. DENISE MINGER IS A 23 YR OLD "ENGLISH MAJOR" WITH NO MEDICAL DEGREE, NO CERTIFICATION IN PHYSIOLOGY, BIOCHEMISTRY, OR HUMAN NUTRITION, NOT QUALIFIED IN MATH OR STATISTICS, NO EXPERIENCE WITH ACTUAL PATIENTS, NO EXPERIENCE WITH HEART SURGERY, AND IS NOT LICENSED TO PRACTICE MEDICINE, OR TO DISPENSE HUMAN NUTRITIONAL OR MEDICAL ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC.

So who am I going to believe? a group of scientists that took years and years to research this information and have gone on to use that information to cure, reverse or stay heart disease, diabetes and cancer in their patients? Or a sock puppeteer who runs a blog?

My journal of martial arts, movies and veganism.
