Aaaah that's so exciting!!!! What kinds of books and movies are you looking for? I just finished reading Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore and it was enjoyable. It's a kind of lighthearted mystery and adventure book, fun and not depressing or stressful. But tell me what kind if stuff you're looking for, what you like, and I can give more ideas.

I honestly don't know =x maybe audio books or movies would be easier?

Well, I can recommend a few books, but don't know how great their audio versions are, for the most part.

World War Z (Max Brooks) is a really fantastic book that's written a short time in the future as a series of interviews with survivors after a worldwide zombie outbreak. This one I can vouch for the audiobook; they have a lot of professional actors and such (like Mark Hamill) doing different interviewees and it's really good. Just make sure to get the complete, unabridged edition, the abridged cuts out a lot of good parts.

Indexing (Seanan McGuire) is a neat series of episodic shorts about a sort of fairy tale CSI team that keeps fairy tales from taking over the real world.

Non-audiobook, but I second the suggestion of Hyperbole and a Half (Allie Brosh). The comics are both hilarious and have a lot of interesting descriptions about living with depression and anxiety.

The Name of the Wind (Patrick Rothfuss): first in a trilogy, my favourite fantasy book ever. Beautiful writing style, intriguing world, neat magic system, lots of unique characters.

Feed (Mira Grant): another zombie one, though it's more a political thriller with zombies in it than, like, a zombie book. Follows a team of news-bloggers who are reporting on a presidential election in a several-decades-past-zombie-apocalypse society.

Hark! A Vagrant! (Kate Beaton): more comic strip compilation. Kate's comics are a lot about literature and history and such, but are well-written to the point where you don't have to know the material to enjoy them, and they're really hilarious.

Movies are tough because there's so much variation in what people like! I'll just list a few of my favourites (noting that I tend to lean toward romcoms, thoughtful character pieces, or cheesy scifi):

Thank You For Smoking, Strictly Ballroom, Stranger than Fiction, Moulin Rouge, Love Actually, Sliding Doors, Shaun of the Dead, The Royal Tenenbaums, Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Movie, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Amelie.

Have you ever read Hyperbole and a Half? It started out as an online blog that she turned into a book, and it's both hilarious and enlightening. I love it.

    Have an awesome trip! :D

Well it really boils down to what you like (Generic answer accomplished!) but I can tell you what I bring along at least. My first choice is always a giant crossword or word search book. You can usually grab them at CVS/Walmart/Wherever for about three bucks and they can last a while. Bonus is that if you don't finish them you can try to on the trip back!

Beyond that, well, I tend to bring my DS along and play Final Fantasy Tactics. Just planning the moves alone in that game can take me hours. For a book I'll have to preface this with me saying I enjoy creepy or full on horror stories. With that in mind, I tend to take my copy of the entire H.P. Lovecraft collection everywhere with me. Barnes And Noble has the hardbound super duper turbo hardbound edition for twenty bucks but if you want to go digital I'm sure Amazon can hook you up. Just make sure it has "Colour Out Of Space" in it somewhere: great story!

That's all I have for ya - Have a fun trip!

The Room. Watch that movie. Do not pay attention to what anyone says about it. Just watch it. You will not be disappointed.
