Not happy. by Teacake

I'm extremely upset right now. I've tried everything and I've been scammed out of money pretty much since the artist in question refuses to contact me / respond to any attempts at contacting them.

I'm literally at my wits end because I can't issue a charge back, I can't get a refund, and they're literally ignoring any and every attempt at contacting them. I'm so tired of being treated this way by artists, this is why I stopped ordering commissions in the first place.

If you want to know who it is, I'll be happy to out them, honestly. I'm sure there are plenty others still wanting their commissions. Heck, I might do it anyway if they continue to refuse contact. -sigh-

I hate being that person, but it wasn't just chump change. It was a good amount of money. And if my power doesn't stop going out omfg.

Not happy.

Can Refunds via Paypal or... Im felt sorry for you got scammed out by Artist x.x But I'm hope you get refunded back

I was refunded after sending the artist an invoice for payment in full. <3 Paypal, however, won't work for anything over 60 days, and it'd been 6 months for me. I will never commission the artist again, regardless of how moe the art is, it's emulatable easily and it was not worth how long I waited.

I'd like to know who it is. I'm so sorry this happened.

It's the same person who does this every time they do commissions. They finish one or two, then run off with the money for six months on fA and ignore any and all contact. -sigh- Third time doing this now that I think about it, I should have seen it coming. :| You can poke me on skype for it if you want, dearie.

You can't go through your bank and do it?
I'd like to know who this is.
Have you considered posting them on Artist's Beware?

    • Link

Bank won't do anything after 60 days, it'd been six months.

I refuse to use A_B, it's a waste of time (By the time I would be accepted, the artist would have done something, and I hate LJ as a community, I don't use it / deleted all my accounts because of the fact.) and it never officially does anything but talk shit. I could do that on tumblr, it's not that hard to do that there and there's WAY more of a chance of shit getting done as opposed to A_B which you have to JOIN and all. It's a mess and I just don't care for the process.

Nothing against those who do use it, I pop on once in a while to make sure no one's tried putting me up there or something considering I do keep in contact with most all my commissioners and all, but you never know when someone will get butthurt and will doctor shit to make you look bad. :U

I'd like to know who this is as well, so I can avoid them. x.x I would also suggest doing an artist's beware - people need to know these things and it can sometimes get the situation resolved.

That and I doubt anyone would ever commission this artist considering they've abandoned all and any way of communication.

Can you not file a dispute, or were they a dick who broke Paypal's TOS and asked you to gift the money? :c Make an Artists_Beware on LJ pronto!! I wanna know who to avoid D:

    • Link

Nope, disputes only last for up to 45 days after purchase. It had been 6 months, but after getting a passive aggressive note saying they were "too busy to communicate", they paid me back in full.

  • Link

oh gosh, i hate situations like this and i really wish i could help you out, im sorry it happened!!
well, maybe if we spammed them about the money, they might fess up ̄ω ̄

    • Link

Heh, I really wish that were so. They avoid all ways of contact so no matter how much they were spammed, they still wouldn't do jack diddly. It's when I took to Paypal's system that they can't ignore because ignorance of so would get Paypal on their case and shut them down yadda yadda.

  • Link

Ugh, I feel bad enough when I have late commissions. But if you pay me you're gonna get your stuff. At least, that is my mentality.

    • Link

Same here, if I feel I can't do it after x amount of time, you will always get a refund. Otherwise, a payment is a contract until I can afford to pay it back.

  • Link

That's fucked up. Echoing others - make an artist beware post on LJ, so then we can all be aware and you won't be in violation for calling anyone out, and quite often those posts actually put a fire under the artists ass and get the ball rolling for refunds

    • Link

I managed to finally get my refund, it took me sending an invoice with several not-so-happy requests in it (IE give me my commissions in 2 days, or give me back my money) and I got a passive aggressive note back after they paid it. If they won't respond to notes asking for refunds, apparently spamming one through Paypal is the best bet.

I know who it is, and I'm not gonna defend her behaviour, but you also have to understand that pestering her further is probably only delaying a result.... trust me when I say I understand. She was teh first artist I commissioned, and the commission was 100$ just about, so it ended up being 6 months later she FINALLY refunded me. LOVE HER, but she isn't... a good artist to commission. v-v

    • Link

She's a great artist but a terrible business person. She immediately takes commissions, then quickly abandons the website for almost half a year, then refuses contact to everyone no matter what happens.

I think that's a shitty thing to do, honestly, delaying work because you promised it in a month and then after three you post art on your tumblr or constantly chatter there but won't bother to respond to anything that is actually important. Either way, I sent an invoice and got all my money back, fees included.

Couldn't ignore that, and now she's down all that commission money. -shrug-
