Hiatus - Back Whenever by Driphtyr

Hey, guys. How's everyone doing? I thought I'd drop a message to again mention I'm behind in stuff I want to draw for people. But, I'm solving that problem: I'm going to call a web hiatus to cut my browsing time down. All I really do on art sites is save and download images I think are awesome/useful, and then pile them up in folders. It's entertaining, and I love finding a piece that inspires my own work, or shows me tips for anatomy and such... But I'm doing too much of it. My writing, reading and drawing keeps getting put on hold while I go through my downloads and decide what I really want to keep, and what was really just a "ooh, that looks cool" in a hurry between appointments or classes. I've been doing stuff like this for nearly 10 years (since I first discovered Advanced Anime). But, there's a point where it goes from useful to a habit. And I want to break that habit. I've come close before. I know I can do it again. So, I'm calling a hiatus.

However!

I'm happy to say I have a temporary job. I'm going to be cleaning up rubbish at a local music festival. My first shift is on the Saturday night, and I have a day shift on both Sunday and Tuesday. Actually, a teacher from my old secondary college (years 7 to 10) runs the business. My jobsearch support network thought it was a brilliant idea, not just for cash and experience, but for networking. Bendigo's a large place, but one of those places where everyone knows everyone else. This could lead to all sorts of possibilities through meeting different people. I'm likely not going to care much for the Internet over the next few days while working, so I figure I'll start the hiatus from now, pop up to post art and chat periodically, and then sift through my inbox for artwork by my friends. I still will be at the computer often, so I again offer my contact details. There's Facebook (look for Vega Strypes/David Roach, using this current avatar), Steam (Vega Strypes/drifterwolf51) and Skype (Vega Strypes/driphtyrtaigur). If I'm online, don't be afraid to say hello. I guarantee that I use Facebook regularly, but Skype and Steam seem to be more morning and evening.

If I remember rightly, I went on hiatus around this time last year also, but that was due to sickness and the Black Sabbath concert. This time, I'm not likely to be back on art sites in a hurry. I'm even debating about skipping Tumblr and Twitter, since I tend to scroll through most of it.

In other news, I had a game of World of Tanks with :icontbolt: the other day. It was amazing to finally voice-chat with one of my long-time friends from the web, and I had a blast. I'm working on some art around it too, but it's going to take some careful study of the Panzer III Ausf. A and the Locust tanks to get right.

Oh, on another topic, I caught the live launch of a new radio station in Australia - Double J. Long story short, Double J was originally what we now know as Triple J, back in 1973, I think? The station began by broadcasting a banned song from an old war shelter. I must say, even though it gets weird after dark (as in songs that are just clips of people speaking single words), Triple J's talk shows, special music segments (Tuesday nights seems to be "the Racket", all death-metal like Cannibal Corpse), and news breaks are great. I love that it doesn't play ads. It can be livestreamed: http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/, if any of you non-Australians want a taste of Aussie radio. I've tried finding Double J to livestream (it's a digital channel only), but can't seem to get it working. It's supposed to be "Triple J for older people", playing mostly '70s and '80s music, if I'm right. Sounds like my kinda channel.

I think that's all for now. Anyway, guys, I'll catch you down the track. Look after yourselves, and remember, YOU. CAN. ADD. ME. ON. THINGS. And the art I've promised is in progress. One lass has been waiting 5 months for hers, but said I could take as long as I wanted. Well I'm doing this. I'm making it happen.
