Saints Row IV review and holy fuck that's long by DeRiften

I still need to try and post a journal each day, blarg. The day before yesterday was, again, spent playing Saints Row IV and I completed it 100% (well, 100% of the missions done, anyway; collectibles hunting isn't so fun) yesterday morning and hot dang the game was AMAZING.. ly short. I mean, it took exactly 20 hours to finish it, and that was with quite a bit of screwing around AND all the DLCs, which were also disappointingly short for the price. Sure they make up for it by being freaking awesome and making you laugh at every cutscene, but I really wish it was the GTA kind of long instead of being just a casual game. Oh yeah, it was pretty casual. Even on hardcore, I can still count the times I've died on one hand and I think only one of 'em wasn't due to some fucked up bug or glitch.

That's right, let's talk about those glitches. The game has a pretty severe memory leak issue so after a few hours, the game will freeze and you'll have to close it from the task manager. But then, it relaunches itself automatically because the devs didn't want you to stop, and sometimes when you DO shut down the game, it crashes instead of exiting correctly. Then you've got the annoying collision bugs when you're just flying around and suddenly you touch God-knows-what that knocks you the fuck out, or you're running around but apparently a little bit too fast since the game can't catch up and you run INSIDE a bridge or building before it renders, so you're stuck inside of it and can't get out so again, you have to restart the game.

Still, despite the mediocre length (I've noticed that Saints Row games get shorter and shorter, so I'm expecting Saints Row V to last around 10-15 hours tops) and annoying bugs, it's still an amazing game and the best in the serie, without a doubt. Heck, after playing it I don't know if I'd be able to enjoy the other ones fully anymore since they'd feel so slow.

Ah well, on to the next subject. After beating it I looked at my schedule and found out I didn't have classes tomorrow afternoon so I had yet another day to relax, but since I was in post-game completion depression where you don't know what to play anymore, I figured I'd catch up with the streams and videos I'd neglected to watch due to Saints Row IV, and there was a lot of 'em. Enough in fact to keep me up till 12:30am, which is why I didn't post a journal "yesterday", but hot dang was it worth it. Overall, yesterday was an amazing day that kept me laughing all the time, and today was also pretty chill, despite some bad omens.

Y'see, yesterday for my final stream, I wanted to make popcorn so I went to grab my trusty bottle of corn oil I had gotten 50% off almost a year ago (you see it coming, dontcha), only to pour down some of it in my pan and see that it now had the texture of egg yolk. I threw it away and went to wash my pan with that wonderful bottle of dishwashing liquid I was sure was infinite because I've had it for more than two years, only to have it finally die out. Hot dang, next you know I'll run outta shampoo, though I've actually been looking forward to that for a YEAR since that brand is shitty and gives me dandruff (so much for being the best brand, Paul Mitchell, you really aren't worth that ridiculously expensive pricetag even though I got you 50% off on eBay).

SO today I went to do the groceries because hot dang I'm running outta everything, and I tried out a calzone for the first time. It was pretty delicious, like a giant hot pocket that's actually made of real ingredients and is the right temperature everywhere. I've gotta say though, my grocery bag was really heavy, and I STILL managed to forget to buy milk. Plus the massage place was closed because it's still Easter apparently, so I still couldn't get an appointment (I can't find their phone number nor store on google maps so I have to take an appointment in person). Plus when I was unpacking the groceries, I found out my new dishwashing liquid had leaked. Thankfully it was at the bottom of the bag so nothing important got stained other than my gum, and I can't get mad at it because it smells like oranges and that makes me happy.

I need to finish this journal 'cause I'm tired now, so let's resume the rest of the day fast. I finally did homework, already finished most of it since my final maths project is way simpler than I expected, and my other homework I'm stuck on so I've sent messages to a few classmates who are good at that subject but they don't know how to help me over messages so I'll have to wait till next class so I can ask the teacher because it's that one teacher who's completely incompetent and doesn't check his messages AT ALL, so there's literally no way to communicate with him outside of classes... heck I bet he doesn't even know the class was moved to Wednesday at 12:30pm because today was Easter. Something that scares me is that I learned there's big chances he'll be the one to teach us advanced C++ in the last semester.
