Art on Art by Art Vulpine

Hello all.

By now you've seen what I've been doing with my art, (and for those who haven't come see my page sometime!) but I'm going to explain how I draw and why I draw.

First of all I'll be honest, art isn't an innate skill for me like writing is. So things take much longer to do and to improve. This brings me to my next point, why I draw. I'm not looking to sell my art or draw commissions. I'm looking to draw because i like to do so, and hopefully others will like my art too.

Now to how I draw. Here are the all important steps:

1) Sketching. I'm not comfortable drawing something from scratch on a computer, so I sketch out a picture by hand using my good old mechanical pencil and click eraser.

2) Scan and upload. Pretty self-explanatory. Taking the paper copy and digitizing it.

3) Line Art. Using another layer above the sketch one, I trace the lines and then delete the sketch copy.

4) Flat Colors. Creating another layer, I then fill in the page with color.

5) Shading. Lastly I add light and shadow to the areas in my art.

Now I'm always looking for newer and easier ways to draw, so if you have any, let me know. Oh, and my art is open to critiques as this will help me improve.
