I rarely delete my notifications. not because they are particularly interesting, but because someone decided it would be fantastic if it displayed them in on view, and to remove them you have to open a nearly identical view,complete with the ability to open the submission, just to get the check boxes to remove them. it seems like it's designed to be intentionally inconvenient.
