Music tastes by cuerva

So I really, really like this music but most people often always find it terribly boring and even annoying now and then. I like instrumental music, however I'm not talking about videogame music here which has some dregree of "acceptance" amongst many. I'm talking about post-rock and ambient.

I love, love, love post rock, but not all the bands. Sadly, the post rock, despite being a very underground genre, is plagued with a lot of bands that are a "copy" of others. It's difficult to find pretty and innovative postrock however the bands that are known as "legendary" just take my breath away. I love post rock, it can have any kind of mood you can imagine and gro from very noisy to very melodic depending of the artist's style. Post-rock also is characteried by very lengthy tracks. Some can last not even a minute, but there are others that go up to 30 mins. The average is more or less around the 7 to 12 mins. Most people aren't used to such long tracks and that's another reason is such an underrated genre. People just gets bored.

Ambient is more or less the other side. Ambient music is very melodic and often very calmed. Usually the tracks don't go beyond the 7 mins but of course there are exceptions. Ambient is a much more "peaceful" genre than post-rock and people tend to get pretty "sleepy" and bored too. Honestly I don't get it.

I'm not trying to criticize anyone here but, honestly, most of the typical comercial music just doesn't work for me. Of course I have my likings and I can't say I don't like some popular bands and artists because it'd be a lie. I listen to all kinds of music, I love music, however that doesn't mean I like "all of the music"... do you get me?

I try to remain open and non-judgamental whenever I'm going through "music discovery campaigns" through the web. I've found a lot of awesome artists and bands that no one has heard about in my country (at least not under the spotlights) and I find myself loving them, however no matter what I always go back to my true love, the instrumental genres of music and the goth (fucking goth. I love Dark music too, that one that gives you nightmares)

The thing is, I think it's sad people is just so "used" the a certain kind of sounds and music they automaticaly "discard" anything that sounds different from what they use to listen. People who listens metal will only listen metal, people who listens pop, will always listen only pop... and so on.

Music is awesome, and is as colorful as the sky through the year. It's a shame most won't open their minds to new colors and ranges of music when there's so, so, so much more than they can even imagine.

I want to listen to all the music.
