might have to sell some things by VCR-WOLFE

buying character designs and adoptables is one of my favorite things to do(you may have noticed)

but its also a really weirdly intimate thing, when i go to buy a character, the reason ive bought it is usually because the design spoke to me somehow, it told me who it was and what its personality is like. it essentially tells me what it is as a person, so i can craft a character from it and develop it

if a design doesnt tell me who it is after a good while, its probably going to end up sitting and not being used. that hurts me so much, it makes me feel so bad. i dont blame me or the artist i bought an unused character from, the character just didnt click with me personally. we werent compatible. but that still makes me feel bad because i feel like ive let down the artist ive bought from because i just cant use the character

i feel bad about rehoming them, but i REALLY want to rehome a character i cant use in the hopes that maybe, someone else will click with the character and get use from them. itd be a shame for a design to just rot away in my arms. id rather it live

that being said, im probably going to put up some characters for sale in the next couple of days? i have a few ive bought that i couldnt use, and would really love to give them better homes

might have to sell some things

    I totally understand what you're talking about. In a way it's similar to rehoming a pet. When you get them you of course love them dearly and do everything you can to care for them, but sometimes things happen and they're better off in a new home. It's nothing to be ashamed of!

      ahaha sort of! luckily it isnt an actual life on the line in this case ;o;

      rehoming pets hurts a lot, ive had to do that in the past

        LOL Yeah that's true. But the sentiment is there.

        And yeah I've had to do that as well :c I had to sell my leopard gecko a few years ago, and one of my snakes a few months ago, and I'm still trying to sell another one x_x It suuuuucks

          ahh gosh i hope you can find them a good home!

            Thank you! It's not like a dire situation or anything so that's good. It's just getting difficult to feed 4 of them every week haha

            • Link

              ahh thats thankful at the least ;o; feeding can be a chore at times depending on personal situations! but its good you recognize you cant feed all the mouths to the best of your ability rather than hangin onto the critters which could possibly just end badly ;n;

                Yeah :c Anxiety's kinda preventing me from going out and getting a job SO UNTIL THEN I'm just kinda scraping by on commissions and Christmas/birthday gifts lol

                    Seems to be a recurring theme with internet artists x_x

    I know just how you feel. I recently organized my art folder into subfolders. It's horrible, but I have a whole folder of unnamed adopts that have no story or plans for anything. Like you said, I feel bad because I know these could be used and given life by other artists instead of sitting around collecting virtual dust in my folder.

    I might just give some of mine away. Most came with conditions by the original artist (like don't resell for more than you bought for) but I don't even remember which had those restrictions or how much I bought them for. Giving them away is the best idea I came up with. shrugs

    Hope all of your darlings looking for new homes find their perfect person and not just another collector.

      ahhh yeah, def can relate then!

      some of the designs i have, i no longer have the original artist's names to, or they left the internet ;o; its kinda sad weh

    Oh interesting, that's pretty much how I feel. It doesn't happen a lot though, I'm not as much of a designer person.
    Good luck finding them homes. I think the artists will understand.

      ahha, it can happen to me quite a bit, both buying designs or making my own. if it doesnt talk to me then its not mine ;o;

      thanks
