Godzilla 2014 by Rotsuoy

"Trailer Rated Appropriate For All Ages"

My thoughts:

First half of the movie: Military dude with family problems (subplot) hunts down Godzilla because he's stomping up the city (or he unearthed the original coverup before Godzilla starts stomping around and links him to disasters). Second half of the movie: Military dude finds out Godzilla is actually an anti-hero of sorts as he fights off the other monsters in the film (the MUTOs) and wins the hearts of his family (subplot wrap-up).

The nuke/tactical-missile/whatever-the-hell-that-weapon-is-supposed-to-be probably either a) won't work (or never did when it's mentioned and shown in a flashback), b) will fail (as in it won't go off or explodes before it hits its target), c) will be used instead to kill other monsters, and the very, very unlikely, but still possible d) will be used to 'power up' Godzilla so he can fight the monsters (I really hope something as cheesy as this won't happen, but you really never know). Most of all, I feel it's going to be not just a good film, but a really awesome film. I think the makers are really nervous and that's why they are keeping the film and it's elements so secretive, NOT because they want to blow you away with surprises (though, probably that too).

Godzilla looks amazing. He's got the right body shape, and he has a new twist on his old, almost bear-like face.
I'm sorry, but I wasn't totally okay with the 1998 version. I'm so sorry.
The "MUTO" will appear in (at least) two forms but may not have only two of them, as they are supposed to be much smaller than Godzilla (in my opinion that means they will need swarm tactics to be a threat, otherwise the big guy will be swatting flies- almost literally). Both are insect-like, one having 8 legs and looking very spindly like a mantis (I've seen a toy of this one), the other being like a fly or a moth with double wings and some kind of pointed face like a pterodactyl (this one was introduced at ComicCon and people did sketches and talked about it afterwards since they couldn't take photos). The trailer that appeared last year had the corpse of a red, multi-legged basilisk-type monster that was reptilian with centipede-like features, but it's been confirmed this creature won't be showing up in the film, and I believe the skeleton seen in this trailer may be an ode to that creature.

NO OTHER GODZILLA MONSTERS WERE PURCHASED FOR THIS FILM aside from the big guy himself. What this means is, no other legendary creatures will be appearing along side our beloved lizard. Rodan, Mothra, you can go back home now, your rights cost too damn much to afford, I'm sorry. However, there are lots of tributes that are supposed to be appearing in the movie, two of which you can see in this trailer (especially if you watch it a MILLION TIMES like I did): the origami birds at the beginning, and the twin ladies in orange in the ripped open hotel as the camera pans past and around it at 0:40 in this trailer (a tribute to the mothra twins).

Enjoy the movie, expect nothing but to be entertained, and most of all, bring a date, or some friends you can hang out with later, that way if it's not what you hoped for, you can go on with your lives and do something else really fun to forget about it!
I have faith it's going to be really neat!

Expect, maybe, Godzilla fan art in the near future? I've always been a fan of the big guy, and he would be a fine subject to try some new brushes on and play with some new settings with! We'll see!

Hmmmm I remember the last time hollywood tried to do a Godzilla movie. While I did like that one I felt that it was severely lacking in other aspects. Maybe they'll do a better job this time.

Some people liked the more raptor look of Godzilla in the 1998 version, but I wasn't really a fan. While I liked his head- er, 'her' head -the jaw as a bit too boxy for me, and I felt like the body was too lithe. I like a chubzilla. <3
