gggggh Gantz is really good but keep in mind it's a seinen anime
(if you don't know, seinen is like. the next age bracket up from shounen. and while shounen is pretty much synonymous with 'all demographics basically' at this point, seinen is. very much not that. seinen anime/manga are significantly darker, grittier, violence is a lot more brutal, gore is a lot more detailed/realistic, they do not give a shit about sexual stuff/sexuality as long as actual genitals are not shown, and themes like abuse and rape are played a lot straighter.) (stuff like Serial Experiments Lain and AKIRA are some really prominent seinen)
SO YEAH LONG STORY SHORT GANTZ HAS A LOT OF PERVERTED/SEXUAL SHIT AND IS REALLY FREAKIN VIOLENT

Ano Hana is really good. But like, alright. So the entire plot revolves around the group of friends and how their relationships are currently in the gutters. It's very much a drama, so I can see a lot of people saying it might be a little slow paced. I didn't find it so, but I watch a lot of Slice of Life stuff (can Welcome to the N.H.K. even be counted as slice of life...), so my perception is skewed. Also, it's done by A1 Animation studio, which is one of my favourite studios.
I can deal with seinen stuff. Anything is possible if you can sit through Elfen Lied.

i like slice of life stuff as long as it has a point/overarching plot- otherwise its going to be REALLY HARD to hold my attention bc I want the story to GO somewhere yanno? (ironically slice of life is something I would never be able to write myself I'd just die if I tried)

NHK is amazing. I just want to point out that it's basically an entire anime about a bunch of people with crippling social anxiety.
I've got WataMote coming up next, once I'm done with Free! Iwatobi Swim Club. I try to balance these things out so it's like happy anime/not so happy anime.Bubbly stuff is so cathartic though! It's like, okay I'm just going to sit down and watch adorable things forever I don't even care. It's the anime equivalent of looking up kitten videos on youtube. X3

Got Watamote on the list too. Free is as well but tbh I dont have any majorly pressing desire to see it yet (I kinda don't like to watch anime that tumblr is currently swarmed over, it makes it harder for me to enjoy it- why im not watching kill la kill yet)

Gosh, it can't be any worse than watching Wolf's Rain, or Ano Hana, or anything else because I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELS OKAY.
