Titanfall - Worth the Hype? by CommunistPrime

Oh my god yes. It's everything I wanted since seeing the gameplay, and even a bit more. I'm sad the beta is ending, but at the same time so excited for the full launch now that I've gotten a taste.

The environments are amazing, with AI units fighting all around and the backgrounds constantly having something going on. The grunts react to you and the enemy as well as to each other and it adds TONS of immersion, giving the battlefield so much life despite being only a 6v6 game.

Pilot combat is frantic and really fast paced, usually ending with someone getting a lucky shot or one person getting a good burst off (and sometimes a good nade!). Movement with the wall running and jumping is super smooth and easy to use, even with the minor problems when you catch a bad bit of geography. And one of the best parts of this game is that even as a Pilot you can easily take down a Titan if you're skillful, by use of anti-Titan weapons everyone has and/or riding on the back of (rodeoing) the enemy and shooting into its core.

Titan combat is also quick and brutal, with heavy munitions flying all over the place as everyone tries to take down shields and hit critical areas. You can simply crush enemy AI units or Pilots by walking or dashing over them in addition to the usual shooting or punching, which makes quick work of said units. Terminations (executing for Titans) are brutal and fun to watch even if you're the receiver of it! And what's nice is even though they are walking tanks, they aren't invulnerable...just really damn strong.

The matches are very fast (minus Last Titan Standing, which is pretty tactical with no respawns) and mobile. My favorite thing is the Epilogue of the matches, in which where the losing team has a chance to retreat to a dropship and extract for extra points while the winning team hunts them down...this is very intense as there are no more respawns after this part starts and even more so since the dropship can be blown up.

My only real problem is that a lot of the textures for units and the insides of the Titans are really low-res (on High settings, Insane lags a bit for me), but it's only a minor problem as you rarely see them for too long anyways.

So in conclusion, get this game if you like FPS's with fresh mechanics and fast combat...plus it has mechs and stuff so why not!? Can't wait to pick up my Collector's Edition on the 11th!
