Being A Commissioner... by EbonyChimera

Rarely do I get to experience that euphoric feeling of receiving a piece of art I commission another artist, or just receive gift pics out of the blue. Oh my God, I’m starting to feel how my customers feel…

I just received some totally kickass sketches from my friend. They make me go FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF :D

    Who doesn't love to get art, paid or not?

    Same.

    Getting art is sooo much fun. The trouble I always have is thinking of something to commission from other people, like if I get an idea that excites me, I nearly always end up just drawing it myself. <=P

    I know the feeling. Commissions being my 'income', all the money I make goes straight to things for the house, mostly food. So I never have the money to be able to commission other artists. I don't think even I have people who are interested in me enough for gift art, lol

    There is something really giddy about being an artist and getting to commission other artists especially when they're your bros

    It always does, especially if you don't remember XD;
    (also, got a surprise one from a friend earlier this week; it was fun) :)

    Indeed! One of the best feels I know~
    And extra feel if it's Airu's stuff! There's just something special in it... traces of kitsu & foodawg awsumness? ;3

    I think you do super cool, eloquent pieces too, so I think I'll have to try to snatch a pic from ya in some point ;^.v.^

    I used to enjoy getting commissions from artists too but I got burned one too many times. Now every time I even think of getting a commission my brain automatically goes into risk assessment mode and I usually back down. Especially these days, I don't have the money to spend without getting something in return.

      Research is probably in order in the artist of your choice before ya ask them to do one.

        True enough! The thing of it is, a lot of these guys regularly knock out work for other people, and some of them have even done things for me in the past. I don't like having to pay money for a project only to have to give up on it several years down the road, so I've started limiting myself to stream commissions that are done right then and there, or open art queues in person at conventions on the first day.

          I suppose that's one way of getting one.

            It's the most effective way. Any other method is a bit of a gamble. I guess lately I don't feel like gambling.

            It sucks not having much spare money.
