I have five cats and one dog. Today I am going to talk about my dog.
My dog's name is Cookie. We got her over 10 years ago at the pound, she was a rescue we didn't know how old she was when we got her. Anyway it was for our daughter to take care of and feed and you know, be responsible for. Cookie hardly ever barked in the 10 plus years we had her, she has barked like the total of five times. She doesn't whine, she doesn't growl, she won't bite. She smiles at strangers and she rubs up with the cats. I think she sometimes have thought she was a cat.
The other day. We noticed that she wasn't moving around much. A week before she was sill active and wanted to play. Then this drastic turn around. My husband took her to the vet, they did blood work. No parasites nothing to cause this, ect. So the day after the blood results we took her in for X-rays.
My doggy, is dying. She has cancer. We only have a few weeks left with her, So, we are giving her the royal treatment. Treats, hugs and loves before she goes. We couldn't put her to sleep with out my daughter present. If we had done that, Kassy would have never forgiven us. It is her dog. And It is hard to put a dog to sleep when they have this look of love on their face and are still wagging their tail. Hoping that you can make them all better.
She is on medication now, the swelling in her paws has gone down, she is more mobile, she wants to go for walks more and eats well now. Before she wouldn't even stand up to eat a little. She's got energy and is gaining a little weight back again.
I am sorry for the long post, but I did need to get this off my chest. I feel rather sick to my stomach, Cookie has been with us for a while. I talk about my cats a lot, only because Cookie isn't technically my dog. She is Kassy's. She is still part of the family though.
