Keyboard boosters and open broadcasting interface by DeRiften

Overslept a bit this morning but not as much as I wanted since I knew my mom was gonna come to get me so we could do the groceries and stuff. Once the groceries were done, went went to FutureShop so I could get the wifi booster and keyboard I needed. Got a nice lil' 20$ mechanical keyboard that should be better quality than the basic thin stuff they send with every desktop. I prefer mechanical keyboards anyway. I mean sure food can get stuck beneath the keys if you mess up, but the keys give a nice bit of feedback and they're also bigger. Only downside I found about it is that it doesn't have "Previous" and "Next" hotkeys to cycle through musics, I really liked that feature on the other one. Oh well, it's not that big of a deal, just a useful gimmick. As for the wifi booster, it was pretty simple since there was only one brand and it was 40$, so it had better work. Aaaaaaand... it didn't. Well, not at first, anyway. Let's just say the instructions weren't so clear, so I played with it, making trips between the basement and the router upstairs, for quite a bit before I finally managed to make it work. Now I have five bars and the connection is stable but I only get 12 mb/s at most. But then the landlord told me even she can only get that much; she already phoned the company before and they had sent a technician who did all sorts of tests and concluded that something nearby was giving off interferences, so there's nothing that can be done to get the 20 mb/s she's paying for. Ah well, I don't pay extra for the Internet so I can't really complain; at least I get 5 bars and a stable 12 mb/s, which is already 3x better than what my mom has. Plus, unlimited bandwidth more than makes up for it (though I'm so used to monitoring and rationing my downloads that I have no idea what to do with unlimited bandwidth yet).

Once I was back home and my mom was one, I finished unpacking everything and cleaning up the room a little, before hopping on ESO's latest stress test weekend. They've improved the graphics and character models quite a bit, which is pretty awesome, but the combat system is still lacking. You just don't get any feedback when you hit something, it lacks a certain oomph that makes it interesting. I didn't play for long before getting bored, so I decided to try and setup fraps with the idea that it was time to up my game and record games and upload them to YouTube instead of streaming in average quality, and everyone is using fraps for that. After trying to make it work for a bit, I concluded that people are retarded for using that obsolete piece of shit and went on to look for something that's actually newer than Windows 98. After trying a few things, I gave up but didn't want to use Procaster ever again, so I figured I'd switch to Twitch since it seems to have improved a lot recently now that everyone is using it. I downloaded OBS and set it up and it was pretty awesome (it even allows you to record your games instead of streaming 'em, so I did find what I was looking for after all!), but it has some issues with my mic whereas it picks up a lot of static.

I'll really have no choice but to buy an audio interface eventually since that cheap adapter/hack I got just doesn't cut the cheese. I found this very cheap (relatively, anyway) audio interface that has phantom power for around 150$, so I might buy it in March once I get my double grants, but for now I'm pretty tired and I plan to oversleep for real tomorrow and get settled for good.
