Hello hello! And Getting to Know Me by Xantouke

Welcome all you new watchers! I'm sure most of you have either moved from FA or have made an account on Weasyl in order to keep watching artists you like.
I've kept my opinions to myself, for the most part, on the goings on on FA, however, I did make a journal on FA about a month ago saying I would transition to Weasyl as my main hub of the furry community. I had already seen the build-up of the developing shitstorm that I'm sure most of you are now aware of. I think the actions of FA staff have led to a breaking point in the FA community, which has led to the now dubbed "FA Exodus", which have been in development for literally years. I know a large portion of artists and non artists have been on the fence about staying on that site for a long while now. And personally, I'm glad that there was a site for most people to migrate to.

Anyway, on to something different! I'm gonna take part in a small thing that's been going around Weasyl, which is this "Getting to Know Me" journal. And without further ado!

[Edit: I seem to have been missing a few sections. Added them in!]

What's your real name?
Dominic

How tall are you?
5'10½"

What's your natural hair color?
Blonde!

What's your eye color?
Blue

What's your orientation?
Bi, with a preference for men.

Are you single, taken or undecided?
Taken! By my wonderful boyfriend, klone

What do you do in your spare time?
I do art, browse Tumblr, watch anime and other kinds of shows, go for walks. It all depends on my mood.

What's your job or occupation?
Currently unemployed/a student. (Well, between schools.)

What do you like about yourself?
UHH, I can be funny? On occasion?

What do you dislike about yourself?
I'm socially anxious and an introvert. I wish I was more outgoing. ;w;

What did your friends notice about you when they first met you?
Probably that I'm very quiet/shy at first!! I break out of my shell once I've gotten to know someone and feel comfortable.

What is your belief/religion if you believe in anything at all?
I don't really have a belief. I'd say I'm more agnostic than anything.

Do you drink?
Yes. C8

Do you smoke?
I do. I have a preference for Pall Mall and Davidoff.

What are your major fears?
Being completely disconnected from people. I'm not one for large groups of friends. I have my small circle and I'm very comfortable. I don't currently have a friend group where I live, but that's fine since I have my good friends I talk to constantly online. But that should change once I move to Scotland, where I have an already established friend group.

I'm someone who doesn't do very well on their own. :X

Have you ever had a crush or an ex?
I have a few ex's, though the relationships ended mostly on good terms and because things ended up not working out for either party. x3; (They actually only lasted a few months, at most.)
A definite crush though? Can't really say anything about that? I mean, I'm not sure. I don't think I've had a full-blown crush on someone. Feelings for me develop through interaction and build-up.

Do you have any dreams or goals?
I'd like to be an animator some day, hopefully. ;w; Or, at the very least, an illustrator.
But in the great scope of things, I want to get into Edinburgh College of Art for Animation, finish school, and be able to get a job. I just want to improve on my art and enjoy life, for the most part.
Short term goals would be to finally move to Scotland, where I seem to feel much more comfortable and already have an established friend group, and of course there's being with my beau.

Who's your best buddy?
I have a close group of friends who are very dear to me.

What's your favorite dish?
UHH, I LIKE FOOD A LOT. Currently meat pies are at the top, though. x3;

What's your favorite drink?
Irn Bru has become a quick favourite of mine. Though, coffee, black tea, pepsi, and just plain mineral water are also great.

What's your favorite color?
I'm currently really favouring orange? But my "favourite" changes constantly.

If you had a super power, what would it be?
Probably shape-shifting of some sort! I'm fond of the idea of being able to change one's body shape or becoming an animal or anthro of some kind. x3;

What's your least favorite food?
I don't think I have a least favourite dish, per se. I'm not particularly fond of mushrooms or fish, but I'm working on that. I want to taste a variety of different dishes!

What's the last meal you want before you die?
I have no idea. Probably something homely and comforting.

What do you drive and what would you really like to drive?
Well, currently am not driving a car, though I did drive a Ford Focus '09 when I lived with my parents.
I do have my eye on a Smart Roadster, for some reason. x3;

What is your most disliked bug?
WASPS and HORNETS
They are the devil incarnate.

Pet peeves?
Ohh boy.

  • Groups that take up the entire sidewalk.
  • People that walk far too slow and I'm stuck behind them.
  • Folks that don't follow the 'right side' rule on escalators.
  • Parents that smoke and have little kids/babies (if you have children, stop smoking. Or at the very least don't smoke in the house/car or around them.) When I smoke and kids show up, I make an effort to either create a large distance me and them or put out my cig.
  • Eating while in a Skype call. I don't need to hear your bodily functions through my headphones. Mute yourself.
  • Chewing gum. Not a strong peeve, since I used to chew gum, but...

And probably a handful of other things. xD;

What do you love in life?
Food, art, seeing new sights, and friends. I think that about sums up a majority of what I love in life.

What do you dislike in life?
Unhealthy stress. Taxes.

    Uggh. I used to live in Washington DC and people were so bad about the "right rule" on escalators for the metro there. Probably because, especially during the summer, a lot of the people were tourists who may not have had experience with public transit, but there were constantly people blocking both sides of the elevators (and trying to shove onto trains before people got off aargh).

    Unrelated, but I wanted to say all your ask-answering doodles on Tumblr over the last few days have been ridiculously adorable.

    • Link

      I know how that is. Currently live in a touristy city and will be moving to an even more touristy city. Ahaha...ha... It's tolerable, though. You kind of dull out the annoyances.

      Also, thank you! For an AD blog it quickly became an ask blog. Heh. Probably surprised some with the actual adult pics. x3;;

    Oh man meat pies. Pastry is like my favourite thing ever and pies with meat products are the topmost preference of /anything/ ;w;

    • Link

      I didn't have meat pies until I visited my bf in Scotland. First thing I had was a game pie, which had venison, hare, and quail. All of which I hadn't had before. And the pastry. ヾ(´∀`*)ノ so gooood

      • Link

        YESSSS game pie is absolutely amazing, and Scottish meats are really good too! I find the best one is a simple mincemeat pie for every day snacking, game pie is more a special occasion kinda thing for me :3

        • Link

          Well, it was my first real pie. I've had the little steak pies you can get at Greggs, which were also hella delicious.
          It was a special occasion, as well. It was the day I landed in Scotland, so we went out to eat.

          Just thinking about it makes me want to move there sooner. = u =

          • Link

            Scotland's a really nice place, yeah! :3 I'm only down in England, but I've been up a few times and loved it, one time we just drove around and stopped at a few place, like an unplanned wherever-you-want road trip! Fantastic greenery and coast views.
            Still yet to try haggis though!

            • Link

              Yeahh, I really want to go see the Highlands. uwu Just drive around and check places out.

              I haven't tried haggis yet, I don't think. Not sure if I can stomach it. ;w;

              • Link

                Definitely recommend doing the driving, dude. :3 Could be a thing to do next time you're visiting!

  • Link

    Your Pet Peeves? Man. You must be incredibly annoyed everyday. But, a nice set of answers here, bub.

    • Link

      Well, no, I'm not annoyed every day. Some are more of a bother, than anything and it's pretty easy to distance oneself from them or to deal with it. =w=

      Thanks~ uwu/

    It seemed like I was reading what I would enter into this for some parts. XD Hey Dom, you still play on steam, just curious since I haven't played a steam game in a long time. lol

    • Link

      Heh.

      I do still play Steam games on occasion. Haven't had the luxury of time to play lately, though.

    Good old Irn-Bru <3

    Though I have to ask, "Folks that don't follow the 'right side' rule on escalators", what is that exactly? I mean I can have a guess (And usually flip to the left 'cus Britain's backwards), but I've never really encountered that as an unwritten rule persay for escalators haha ^^;

    • Link

      Irn-Bru is best. <3 I weep at the fact they don't have it in Germany.

      It's the unwritten rule where you stay on the right side of the escalator, if you're just coasting, and make room on the left for people who are in a hurry and are walking up/down the escalator.

      • Link

        Ah okay. I've never really encountered that, I mean, I stick to the left side out of habit with stairs/corridors anyway so it doesn't really matter I guess!
