Starting a new fursuit :) by Sybrant

After much discussion with Lutis, I've been given the go-ahead to start work on a new suit. I'm prioritising making a new bodysuit, but if time allows I might have a completely new fullsuit for EF, head and all. :)

Today I bought cheap polycotton to build a pattern for the bodysuit. As I don't like paying for things, I've not bought a generic overalls pattern, as is commonly suggested, and just made a trouser pattern and a torso pattern, which'll be sewn together eventually. Fur is pretty good at hiding seams, after all :P The bodysuit is probably my favourite bit of building a new suit, as I've got a lot more experience in patterns and sewing than I do with carving foam.

I know the digitigrade on my 3/4 suit went down well with people, so I'm doing the same technique again on the new suit, though possibly slightly more emphasized, and with the padding more securely fixed. This time I'm going to have HUGE paws though, with parade soles! And sandals for outdoors, of course.

I found a nice white fur in my local Fabricland, which I'll probably be using as the main fur on my suit. If it doesn't shave well I'll have to used something else for the head, but it's very soft and dense, and not too long, so it should be good. It's also reasonably priced (£14/mtr) which makes for a happy wallet. :) Just gotta find something similar for my markings, that doesn't break the bank. There's some lovely coloured furs at Mohair Bear at the moment, but for £40/mtr plus P&P I can't justify making my blue arm out of it. The tail tip and face markings will probably be done in that stuff though.

I'm also going to make a harness for my suit once done. Hopefully with EL wire/tape on, for dances~ Though I'm not entirely sure how that stuff works. I'm sure I'll work it out though.

So yeah. Happy puppy feels productive and excited and motivated! And this is totally going to impact on my sleep and studies, but who cares :D
