This place really is quite confusing. i think its cause im a little on the dense side. I havent updated this thing since dec 2012 LOL. I came on today to find a bazillion people watching me, I guess this is due to the FA exodus. Its kinda a clever idea to have accounts on multiple sites especially for someone like me who gets some of her income from art commissions. But I still need to figure this place out a bit.
for example im not sure what this whole collection malarky is about or why there are friend requests are they the same as watches cause I dont think they are.
Mebbe its just cause im sick at the moment so im just not comprehending what im looking at.
I will probably start uploading art to this site I guess, although FA will remain my primary place of contact and I dont intend to upload Found here, simply because theres like 260 pages and well that's gonna take years for me to upload here LOL. So thats staying on FA and its also available to view on ikklespace and partially on deviantart so it doesnt really need uploading here.
Anyway I hope all you new people are settling in nice and making friends and stuff.

The collection thing is what you are supposed to do with art that you didn't draw ... say you commission an artist and they draw you a picture and post it to their account here, then they "offer" it to you, and you accept, and it appears in your "collection" for that artist so it's easy to find. That way you're not posting the same art to your own gallery again, which makes one picture take up double the disk space on the servers. But it only works if both the commissioner and artist are on Weasyl ...
The friends thing isn't the same as watching ... you can watch someone but not be friends with them, but I don't think you can be friends without watching. It's like a step beyond being a watcher. I think it's really just to make it more of a social network. On dA you can also watch someone or be friends with them, and those are different things. I think you can make it so that some of your posts and journals are only visible to friends.
I am trying to post my art here too, and to other places, so that I have "backup" places to hang out and be sociable in case FA goes down for a week again like it did in December. :)

Yes sadly a couple of times, as a result I'm on certain fetishy sites I'd rather not be on just so I can keep my name and people don't use my photos pretending to be me

I've been on here for a WHILE I'm still kinda learning how it works. Dont' feel bad.

One thing that confused me about weasyl is the comment system. I'm under Linux and when I go to type it wouldn't let me. I finally figured out that the big light Grey box was not where i was supposed to type... It only took me having to download 3 different browsers, clear my cache, and start up my laptop to try there to figure that out lol. I will continue to keep using FA as my forefront, and just keep tabs on all the other art sites.

People can watch you without friending you. Personally, I only send friend requests to people I know, and some people have said they'll only confirm people they know, but I guess some people confirm them anyway maybe? When you upload things, you can make them only visible to friends if you want, but by default everything is public.
Collections are useful for if you do a commission for someone else on the site. Instead of each of you uploading it to your own galleries, you can upload it yourself, and then offer it to the commissioner as a collection. Once they confirm, your submission will show up somewhere on their page.
