Organizing Folders ^_^ + tips and tricks! by SweetSushi

Soo I have been re organizing my folders. I think its better this way ^_^ I totally love this feature <3 In this case I can totally start uploading my kigus here too. I will make a special folder for that one in the near future!

Although its a pretty neat feature, I still wish there was a way to be able organize faster rather then click submission, edit submission, save submission for each drawing O_O Should be like a quick edit > move to ... or drag and drop folder thingy :P

How do u organize your files?
Do u organize in years, interest, rating?

Share your tips and tricks here and how to handle weasyl ^_^

I also found a few very good journals myself, they can help you make a proper move from fa to weasyl and how to handle things in the future. Just check my favorite journals here https://www.weasyl.com/favorites?userid=11226&feature=journal

    You can put the submission in a specific folder as you're uploading, at least! So that'll be something important to remember when putting up new things. It can't be helped that moving old stuff into folders is a bit tedious, though. >_<;;

Since I do digital and on occasion traditional art, I have my folders sorted that way. On top of that I have a separate folder for commissions, even though I preface them all with a [C] in the title. It just makes it easier for people to see ONLY commissions if they're interested in seeing what my commissioned pieces look like in comparison to my personal ones. Lastly, I have a scraps folder as well as a "graphics" folder, because I want to do more work with logos and other types of site graphics.

I may make folders for icons and pixels, too.

Yeshh soo true, but when I started to use weasyl I started to use folders differently, but lately I realized I wanted it to organize it otherwise. So I has to go through all my submissions and edit them :P took me a while. But from now on I can put them in the correct folder right away ^_^ So its not like a ultra problem!

Organizing traditional and digital is a good idea, I don't offer traditional myself yet. Ive seen allot of ppl managing their folders into personal, requests, commissions and trades. For myself I just have a separate folder for my characters and any other art is divided in years (well I just did that) and interest or style (like chibis, icons, sheets).
I dont think it rlly matter if its a trade or commissions, I put the same effort in all my art, free or paid it doesnt matter. But thats my personal opinion of course. Thats why I am kinda curious how other ppl do it ^_^

I did give my commissions on fa names like C01 C02 etc so it would be indeed clear whats a commission or not. Gives a nice overview for yourself too. Maybe I have to start doing that here too from now on ^_^

Alsoo thats awesome! I did (web)design in the past myself, but in my case I wanna rather focus on my art from now on ^_^ but that's what makes folders so useful, that u can easily manage different kind of projects <3 <3

That's a good way to do it too, I just personally prefer not to have too many folders and sub-folders. I did that on DA and now I feel like it's a mess, lol.

I put in the same amount of effort on a commission/trade vs. personal work. It's just that it's something I've liked to see before because an artist's commission portfolio can sometimes say a lot about them. x)

Yeah you're prob right. I was thinking allot about how to do it. But its rlly hard O_O it would prob look better to have indeed all the commissions in one place, I shall keep this in mind. Alltough sometimes ppl like to see like a list of all fetishes or just an list of icons u did so its easier to find, but idk...I will think about it ^_^

Yeah, it's pretty much all personal preference, so do it in a way that you like best! :)

atm Im keeping it at this, took me a while to get this organized :P if there will be a nice upgrade on weasyl organizing ur folders easier after you uploaded them and I found a better personal way to organize I might end up changing it again :P lol Might just end up in work by years and commissions / personal folders hehe

You need to be a little careful and check users pages when using the watch transfer. People keep adding me thinking I'm the artist Kotori from fA

I always check the person weasyl account first to see if they are in common. But it was hard before cause there where allot of empty pages. I guess now is a good time to check them. I didnt rewatch everybody yet, I have a long watchlist on fa so it takes forever :P
