The ending was so sad, and I wish there was more to read, but it was written so well and is so thought-provoking that I am not left unsatisfied.

The series of His Dark Materials started with The Golden Compass, which I think more people will find familiar to them because of the movie. It's based on knowledge, exploration, learning, and of course mystery in regards to what makes life life. It's something I can relate to, but also makes me envious of the daemons in the book. I think it'd be awesome to have a companion like that with me for my entire life. You'd never really be alone, but with someone you could always trust and talk to. Hard to explain. BUT YEA.

I highly recommend these books / this series. I plowed through them within a week. I tried to make it last longer buuut I'm a huge reader. So that didn't work out.

I need more books to read. I may also reread some of it to try and draw these elephant-like creatures described in the book. They sounded so fascinating.
