Finally DONE! by R00K
So Im up to date with my submissions here on Weasyl and yes, this is where I will be staying. All new art will be uploaded here, however commission slots and weekly updates will be made to my FA. And by updates I mean a lineup of all finished sketches cropped and greyscaled as well as large pieces, which will be linked back to my gallery here. The constant outages, unstable coding, privacy leaks, the way their staff handles issues and empty promises made by FA has really put me off through the years and this current shutdown has really sealed the deal for me to move.
BUT! All that aside, if you see any work I have done for you PLEASE I encourage you to comment on the piece so I can offer it to you as a collection and tag you properly in the description (as I dont know if you guys got new account names or whatnot) Dont be shy, I want to do this for you guys! Anyway, thank you for the ones who have followed me here and to all my new watchers (followers????) Yaaay!

I'm definitely going to be trying to encourage my watchers to migrate over here - I feel like at this point in time relying solely on FA is a dangerous business practice, seeing as I'm a freelance illustrator full time. :/ However! I can't just up and leave FA yet, so xposting will have to do for the time being!

Between hackings, multiple server crashes, where neer demanded funds or FA would have to get shut down - to the hacking where he raised over 10 grand and spent it on a car instead. The dreadful coding ( that no server in the world will fix ) only a real coder can, and to the eyesore of a visual UI/theme stuck in 2005 I wish more would take the leap to weasyl or even sofurry for that matter.
Im sure everyones read furleaks. Him, the staff. They are all terrible people, and care about nothing more than fame. I guess what im saying is i do not understand why people continue to stay with and support FA. Sure its more established, but its ran by 12 year olds that ignore accusations of rape, neer banning people, charging them to get access to their gallery or demanding banned person to pay a for a commission of his fav artist fucking his sona to be unbanned etc. It's all fucking corrupt. FA could do with a new staff, specifically Yak ( their coder) who wouldnt even be able to code his way out of a fucking paper bag.

I've been talking a lot of my friends into coming over here as well....the layout is like a billion times better than FA and people seem to be a lot nicer over here as well :3

We as a community really need to work to push people to move towards a new service. We HAVE to stay vocal and constant with this to really kick start this place. It's everything FA could be but we really need to lure people here so they can experience the awesome. I feel really bad for all of my artist friends that were effectively cut off from income sources due to this latest outage that in any other business would have ENDED them. A week outage with very little transparency and updating on a service that a LOT of people use and rely on ridiculous.

The problem with this is neeritler will ban anyone who speaks of jumping ship, even if its a post outside of FA's realm. Ultimately that would kick himself in the ass and help people move over, but his attitude towards other furry sites wont make it easy if people wish to remain unbanned from FA.

I think it's time to finally draw this line in the sand though. I know I plan to be VERY vocal to my watchers about this. I know I'm not an artist but I enjoy commissioning art and collecting it from various sources. Hopefully we can all make this thing happen.

Not sure, but it most likely is for the sake of 'Neer thinking he should be the only god of furry art sites. Remember when he tried taking down 621.net with threats of a lawsuit and shit? Lol. Sides, FA admins pick favorites. They've never followed their own TOS :/ They just usually do what they like. :p

Good on you for moving to a new site! But I would recommend at least putting smaller res images on your FA gallery still.
Low rest to hold watcher interest, but with links to your newer gallery to encourage users to come over and get the higher res image.Just dropping the site won't do much to help sites like Weasyl flourish, sadly. You'll have to direct your fans.

I just can't bring myself to really use Weasyl all the time honestly. I'll still rely on FA to get updates, commission people and all.
Just using FA to update people you will be keeping it alive tbh. People will have no reason to move if they can still get your slots from FA. Maybe if you can somehow encourage them to use Weasyl more eg; Weasyl users get first dibs on slots?-
I personally think if more people would jump off the sinking ship and find their way to places like Weasyl and use it more regularly, you'll find yourself using this more. Yes, FA will always remain more popular, but at the current rate its in. Give it a few years and another site will take its glory. All empires eventually fall. FA included.

That's the problem is a few years. A lot of artists seem to think it'll just happen over night. They will keep aiming to appease the FA members and it'll take longer.
Both Artists and Commissioners need to partake, as they rely on both honestly.

Yeah i wholeheartedly agree with that. I think the main issue is, people are too scared to speak out against FA. Doing so, will warrant a ban if they find out, even if its just speaking terribly about them off their site. :/

I am just going to be doing what people should be doing. Making good use of both sites. Why rely on one? There's a tool to help you crosspost and everything *shrug*
I have spoke out against them, I haven't been banned. Depends on if you are being critical thinking, or just harassing someone about it honestly.

I love this site I have already found so much more and I can see the great difference in art styles and people. I will most likely end up here and also use sofurry

While I intend to use Weasyl and FA equally in the future am I understanding you RK. It´s a mess that FA is in "read-only" mode for so long. Must be a pain for many people who earn money via commission work. Lots of money is running through the hands of many people.

I would grow the largest boner if Weasyl became the new furry hub, FA has been a joke for too long. I keep hearing rumblings that it's the code/coders that just cannot manage a decent site and they keep throwing hardware at the problem. I just hope if/when Weasyl does become the new artsite, most of the drama is left behind but hey: furries lol.

Good on ya! More big-name artists need to make this move, and not necessarily drop FA entirely, but only upload new and big commissions to Weasyl or some other site, forcing the hands of others to move over. The sooner FA realizes how badly they've fucked up (repeatedly, for several years now...), the sooner it can die.

When FA comes back up, I intend to cross post both here and there with a view to slowly getting people to migrate here in the long term.
