Today I got a message saying that my free trial for Final Fantasy XIV was gonna end on December 3rd, so I figured I'd set up a subscription (and also peruse Square Enix's Black Friday sale to get an upgrade to the Collector's Edition and get that awesome Coeurl mount), but apparently when I registered the game ingame, it didn't register on the site so I need my product key. I went to see my purchase history to grab it again but apparently I never bought anything because it was empty, so I had no choice but to file a trouble ticket. Thing is, you may remember that the last time I opened a ticket, I fought for almost two months before I finally fuck-this-shit'd and fixed it myself; when it comes to customer service, Square Enix is even worse than Electronic Arts. I mean, it's 99% automated messages. Sure, at first you'll get an incompetent worker who'll totally ignore what you asked in the first place and just blurt out basic stuff like "change your password, scan your computer for malware, buy our identification key, etc etc" that, of course, won't solve your problem at all. And after that, he'll give up and it's 100% automated messages from that point on. If you're patient and keep reminding 'em every week that they're not helping at all and that you want an actual human being to help you, after a month they'll flat-out ignore you and stop replying altogether.

So yeah, while my trouble ticket may be open, I'll probably have to involuntarily quit the game on December 3rd when my free trial runs out because Square Enix has no knowledge of general networking and probably hired 12 years-old who just barely learned how to use Frontpage 2002. Sucks too, I'm liking endgame more and more and I can actually play with my guildmembers now.
