Potato candies aren't weird, guise. by DeRiften

Yesterday was awesome! My grandma arrived around 5:00pm so before then, I was mostly watching videos and doing almost no gaming whatsoever because I didn't want her to interrupt anything so when she arrived, she gave me the desserts she promised; two plates of apple crust (one of which is already half empty, tee hee), two plates of peanut butter & chocolate fudges and a container full of potato candies, including some blue ones from my mom's garden (she grew purple potatoes this year, shit's funny). After that we went to my uncle's place before going to the restaurant together. Of course, she forbade me to pay for my lunch so I told her she'd better come eat at my place this week (she's in the city till Sunday) so we can eat the fancy stuff I bought (also she loved the tangerine candle I bought her), and she said she'd come Friday so yay! We spent almost two hours at the restaurant and once we were out, we were both exhausted (especially her, since she left at 8:00am this morning meaning she got up at least around 6:00am. Plus she told me she had trouble sleeping that night so that doesn't help) so we both headed our way. She sleeps at her friend's place (that friend of hers lives in an apartment complex for semi-autonomous old people). But once I was back home, I started feeling terrible to a point where I needed to get away from the computer and do some stretching exercises to help digest. Didn't help though since half an hour after I started feeling better, I had another spike of terribleness and ended up throwing up for the first time in years. After that though, I didn't feel terrible anymore so I guess it was something in the food; I'm really not used to eating at restaurants anymore. Oh well, played some TTT in the evening, then spent most of the day today playing some more TTT. After I cleaned up my grandma's laptop, of course. Since I'm the family's unpaid IT guy (well, unpaid's not quite right since she brought me desserts and paid for my food), I don't have much of a choice :P. Sucks for her though, I'll tell you why. A few months ago her sound broke and I tried fixing it and concluded it was a hardware problem; not a driver or something like that. I thought it was fixed since she didn't give me news so I went back to my apartment (it was the Holidays so I was at my mom's place), but when I starting cleaning up earlier I found out what they did. They simply reinstalled Windows entirely and erased everything (though they did make a backup so she didn't lose her precious photos). That somehow fixed the sound but of course, the second I did an update it broke again since yanno, the hardware is still broken and all. Sucks for her since where I come from, most computer places are scams because almost nobody knows how computers work (yay rural areas) so they can just do a quick fix and charge a fortune for it (to get Windows reinstalled, I wouldn't be surprised if she paid 150$).

Other than that, I got really bored today and decided to reinstall FlyFF. See, I played that game for years after I quit Runescape, but that was only because there wasn't any actual good MMO in that era. FlyFF is 100% grinding, there's literally nothing else to do. I don't even know why I reinstalled it, maybe it was because of the nostalgia value or the hope that they'd change something or I dunno. So I reinstalled it... the recommended specs and size of the game didn't change at all (1GB for a MMO is pretty suspicious). Logged ingame without any issue (which is pretty different from Square Enix. I've been fighting with them for an entire month to try and get some actual customer service out of 'em and their site is so horribly coded that you literally need four separate accounts. One for the game, one for the game's site, one for Square Enix's site and one for Square Enix's shop) and the first thing I noticed other than the nostalgic music is that they merged all the servers together. I was like "yay change!", but then I made my character (since my old one got deleted during the server merge) and went ingame and... well absolutely nothing's changed. Since 2005, the graphics haven't changed one single bit. The music hasn't changed, the interface hasn't changed, nothing's changed. I mean sure they added some endgame content but there's the problem. After an hour of playing I got bored and quit because the game's gotten stale and most people are high-levels so the low-level areas are literally empty; even in the PVP server which has 2x exp. Then again, the company who made the game, gpotato, have been shitting out MMOs left and right for almost a decade and FlyFF was their first so it was stale even years ago, but I guess they finally did make a better MMO that attracted most of their players. Oh well, RIP FlyFF. I met the one I considered my lil' sister there and really had a lot of fun while it lasted. I never got to a high level, granted, but I was the best merchant around. The mods knew me by name and we'd chat everyday, and I was famous for being the best glitch finder/abuser. I managed to fly to End Island (a glitched area that was never released and can only be accessed through some extremely tricky loops) and not only knew how to go to the Underworld, but also knew how to walk there. My guild was full of people who wanted to know my secrets and every once in a while, we'd organize a server-wide hide & seek/jumping/flying triathlon/tournament/thing and whoever won would get to learn from me how I did my tricks. It was really awesome and that's most likely what kept me playing so long; the community. But without the community, the game becomes pure grind so yeah, it's dead now.
