Haven't posted anything in a while. I haven't been to any photo-worthy events or sketched anything in a while, so no content to upload.
Been somewhat busy since Thanksgiving, though. This past year Ben and I decided we were in a good enough place financial-wise to look into buying a house and stop living in apartments.
We got a realtor and began the search in earnest in September. We looked at several properties, some pretty cool, some were dumps. We put in offers on a few but were outbid by others.
In late October we saw a nice bungalow in Sanford that met two key requirements. It was within our price range, and it wasn't a complete dump with the ceilings being held up by centuries of hardened dust.
We put in an offer that was accepted, and then began a few weeks of inspections and negotiations. The roof needed work so we got the price knocked down a bit. In early December we officially closed on the property and got the keys. I have to work, and now with a longer commute, so it’s been slow going on organizing my stuff. I’m downsizing a lot of my media and toy collections, both out of space considerations, and lack of interest. I sold a few thousand comics and graphic novels which freed up a lot of space, and have been going through my books, DVDs and assorted toys to see what no longer holds my interest. And I gotta make room for the new stuff.
The place is nice with a decent backyard and an existing fire pit. Hopefully this summer we’ll get a grill and host small BBQs with friends.
