Al'marra Irsuuthin's Attack on Titan IV by DeRiften

Yesterday, I decided to finally watch Attack on Titan to see what the fuss was all about and well... seven hours later at 3:00am I had run outta episodes and I was in a daze like "huh, what happened to my evening?". This is exactly the reason why I don't watch much anime (or read books), I completely lose notion of time and get back to reality only when I run outta episodes... and then the day after I read the manga @_@. And then I'm left with a craving for a few days, wanting more and not wanting to do anything else. To be fair though, Attack on Titan is pretty dang awesome. It has a pretty peculiar art-style; the lines are thicker than other animes, which gives it an interesting feeling, but they could work on their expression work, it looks... amateurish? Somehow the amateurism of the expression work blends in really well with the thick lines to create a pretty unique experience. But what really makes the anime awesome is the story and its pacing. The pacing is perfect. Not too slow like Dragon Ball Z where you just listen to people shouting and powering up for 10 episodes. And it's not too fast like Naruto or Bleach where they go too fast and have to make up bigger, flashier and more predictable story-arcs in between the months-long fillers. The pacing in this one is surprisingly adequate. They spend enough time to explain stuff but not enough to make it sound like boring over-exposition. Plus they manage to balance the amount of time between dialogue and action to make it so the anime caters perfectly to different audiences at the same time. As for the story itself, hot dang. It's... unpredictable to say the least. Every episode has a plot twist or surprise. Every episode ends on a cliffhanger that simply MAKES you want to watch the next. As for the character development, there's many, many, many characters and they're all pretty well developed, but the story makes it so you can't play favorites because even though everybody has a different personality, backstory, weakness and personality flaws, they'll probably get killed. The story is really dark and not for those who want their happy endings where the good guys win. It's a story of perpetual defeat where that single ray of seemingly impossible hope is what keeps the characters from giving up and killing themselves, one way or another. It's a story of psychological and physical torture where your choices and morals are strongly influenced by politics and the decision between your survival and that of many others.

But enough about that before I start throwing spoilers inadvertently, today after finishing the manga, I decided to start a new game of Skyrim. Meet Al'marra Irsuuthin. For years, the high elf was a faithful and loyal soldier of the Imperial Army but she was sentenced to death for treason. Her crime? Defending herself when a superior officer tried to force himself on her. No matter how strongly she voiced her defense, they wouldn't hear it because to them, she's just a pawn, she's just another soldier, she's a foreigner, an elf and most importantly, a woman.

After escaping from her death in Helgen, she has only one goal: Burn every single Imperialist bastard to death, no matter the cost. If anyone gets in her way, he dies. One way or another, she'll destroy this corrupt and arrogant Empire but first, she needs power. She needs allies, powerful allies, godly allies. After all, she can't destroy the Empire alone.

Revenge is her life now.

Aaaaand after I got bored, I decided I might as well give GTA IV a new chance since V is coming out and well, it's decent so far. Since the PC version is a shitty port of a mostly-console game, it's plainly unplayable without a controller but with one, it's pretty decent. Doesn't beat San Andreas or Vice City but it's still good enough and worth buying it at 75% off. The driving system is still terrible; the cars have no handling, there's too much traffic, the physics are quirky and the cars either go too slow or too fast but other than that, it's GTA alright.
