my good friend, Gairen who runs Albatross Aviary Bird Rescue and Sanctuary is doing a Spring Can Drive.
The Can Drive will help raise funds to keep rent paid, to continue on renovations on the building, expansion of flight and habitat rooms, and the continue care of the birds.

So, if you have any spare cans and bottles or have a big collection of them, Gairen will be very happy to taken them. Make sure that they are returnable and are RINSED OUT AND CLEAN. NO DIRTY OR NASTY CANS AND BOTTLES PLEASE.

Albatross Aviary is a local 501c3 Bird rescue located at 925 Bridge St NW GR. Albatross Aviary is looking to raise money this spring to insure the continued care of the resident animals and to continue the facility renovations to accommodate the growing crisis of unwanted birds after the influx of surrenders after the covid pandemic.

To raise public Awareness and funding for the next 6 months Albatross aviary is kicking off This years spring can drive fundraiser, encouraging the community to donate their returnable cans or bottle slips to Albatross Aviary’s on going mission.  The can drive will run from April 30th till July 31st.  Last year Albatross Aviary was able to raise over $2000 from generous public can donations. With rising expenses this year we are shooting to collect $15,000 in returnable cans and donations for spring of 2023 which will ensure us the ability to make it through the next 6 months, till the holiday fundraiser 
All donated empty returnable cans and bottles should be handed off to an albatross aviary volunteer upon delivery, ring the doorbell in the back of the building at 925 bridge street NW GR. weekdays, between the hours of 1pm and 5pm, and someone will be with you shortly. For other arrangements or questions about donating please call 1(616) 432-3056 and leave a message and someone will reach out as soon as he can,  PLEASE, DO NOT LEAVE BAGS OF CANS OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING,  they will be taken. Albatross Aviary would appreciate it if all returnables were rinsed out and put into plastic bags for return and will not take ungagged cans.  
Albatross Aviary will also take returned bottle slips and encourage those that have the time to consider helping out in that way, as managing the returns is an effort in itself.  
Don’t have any returnables to donate but still want to join us in our mission to save the birds? Great! We will be needing help with the physical task of returning the donated cans and we are always looking for qualified dedicated volunteers to help with daily care and maintenance at the aviary.

All proceeds from this drive will go directly toward our continued effort to provide individualized care to the resident birds of Albatross Aviary by allowing us to pay our rent and utilities for the next 6 months.
