Commission Status Update by ShimmeringSpectrum
As some of you might know, I was unemployed for the last three months. Today was my first day at a new, full-time job. This means that the time I have to work on story commissions has been reduced. However, I've found a lot of joy in working on stories again and I want to keep doing it. So, here's where I'm at and what I'll be doing next.
Current Queue
In Progress
- An anonymous client with a 10,000+ word story featuring extreme sadism. Ahastar is standing in for the anon. First draft is about 85% complete.
- thewonderingcanine with a 5,700 word story featuring transformation and socks. First draft is about 25% complete.
Backlog
- BensterDiving with a story trade. Details TBD.
- Gadget Goat (link intentionally omitted) with a 2,000 word story featuring her character doing horrible things to micros. Outlined, not started.
- ADarkPassenger with a 6,800 word story featuring two of his characters, one of which is being mean to another. Outlined, not started.
- itchigo-icetalons with a follow up to my previous story featuring his giant human self. Not outlined.
Future Plans
As I said above, I want to keep writing. This really does bring me joy, and being around other creative folks like MagPi has absolutely been an inspiration. However, I also need to be realistic both with myself and you all about how much time I have for writing and how much I value that time.
So, here's what I plan on doing to stay active without completely falling off the radar.
- I'll be streaming story work on Picarto (ShimmeringSpectrum) every Tuesday evening from about 7 to 10 PM Mountain Daylight Time (UTC-6). I'll likely accept microfiction commissions on these streams, so if you want me to write something short (150-200 words) for you, feel free to drop by.
- My commission form will remain open but I cannot offer guarantees on when I'll begin your story. I will not send you an invoice until I'm ready to start work.
- I will likely be raising my commission prices in the coming week or two, since my time is more limited and I need this work to be sustainable, but I will honor my current pricing of 3¢ per word for anyone who submits a commission form within the next week.
- If you submit a commission form, I will send you an outline and an estimate rather than an invoice. If you agree with the proposal and price, I'll add you to the backlog.
- For commissions in my queue, I'll hold myself accountable for writing a minimum of 2,000 words per week towards those stories. This is on top of my daily microfics posted on my Telegram channel. This means that the anonymous commission should be done this week, the next commission by mid-April, and so on.
- I will post updates about my commission status here at least once every other week.
