Twitter is planning to force its users to "verify" themselves by paying a monthly fee, or else they'll be deprioritized by its algorithms. That means "unverified" users will be less likely to show up on home feeds, notifications, or search results. Even if you follow the unverified user, you might not see their tweets!

These are plans straight from Elon Musk's mouth. In an interview with Baron Capital, he claimed that "bots and trolls" would remain unverified and said that "you'll have to scroll really far to see the unverified users." His goal is for there to be enough verified users to make unverified users effectively invisible.

Twitter is already hard enough on artists as it is. We have to be careful about what we post, when we post, what we say, and more to try to please the existing algorithms. The thought that we'll soon have to pay to be visible at all is ridiculous.

Please make sure you follow all your favorite artists on sites other than Twitter too. I post on several, including Telegram channels if you want notifications (which will include time-sensitive things like commission openings).
