Hi Weasyl, so I’m writing this today because the United States is trying to pass a law that bans adult content in most areas of the internet. Because this is a site where adult content is allowed, I figured that’s probably important to talk about!

However, if you’re like me and have a hard time reading long posts, here’s a shortened version written by yours truly:

Due to the law, websites will be allowed to view all of their user’s activity, including private messages, in order to censor sexual content, which includes discussions of sex and lgbt related topics. The way the law is written allows politicians to label essentially anything they want as pornography, and that includes subjects such as racism. The law also gets rid of the possibility of encryption, meaning that anyone could look at your data at any time.

The whole reason this law was created was in an attempt to stop child sexual exploitation online, which sounds good on the surface, however, the act does nothing to actually stop this, having no new prevention programs or methods of investigation.

I don’t think I need to explain further why this is a bad thing.
