O Pocono, Pocono! Wherefore art thou, Pocono?

Oh, wait… This isn’t Shakespeare In The Park, is it… Nope, definitely Pennsylvania.

With rain creating havoc in the scheduling for the weekend, the FURCAR drivers were glad to be able to take to the track for qualifying on Saturday. In short order, Shockey Rai rocketed to the front of the pack to take the pole, with Cheesebeagle qualifying right beside him. Ice road lion and Croco take up the second row behind them.

The fun of racing at Pocono has to do with the fact that a different race is driven in each of the three corners of the track, plus a drag race down the front stretch to thrill the crowds (and drivers) even more!

Heading into Turn 1 at the start of the race, or whenever a green flag is thrown, is always a scary prospect. And it did not go so well for Shockey Rai, Cheesebeagle, and Ice road lion. Rookie Draco was also caught up as the threesome got together. All four cars retreated to the pits (Draco) or the garage for repairs. With not even a single lap completed, already there was work to be done! But despite the incident and the repairs, all of the crews were glad it had happened so soon to give them the most time to get their cars back out on the track. In fact, a few laps later all four cars were indeed returned to racing.

Twenty laps later, however, the caution flew once again as K’gra lost grip and slid up into the wall in Turn 3. Her day was ended quickly, but she was determined to make the best of it and ordered pizza and root beer for her crew to apologize. During this caution, many drivers opted to come into pits. With only one practice not washed out by rain, crew chiefs needed to get a look at that rubber and make adjustments to the cars.

A constant stream of pit stops continued as the race progressed and the crews attempted to fine-tune their cars to better make the drive to the front of the field. By the end of the day, Edscott led the way across the finish line, followed by Oren Hart. Moon Mochi trailed in third, leading a tight-knit herd of cars behind her. Slidewolf finished in fourth, Zero in fifth, Jackie Rae took sixth, and Croco, Raz, Duroc, and Kenku rounded out the top-10.

In the season points, Cheesebeagle finally managed to nose out Belic for the top spot, leading the grizzly by three points. Duroc held onto third, just six points behind Belic and nine points behind Cheesebeagle. Shockey Rai stayed in fourth…a miracle considering his early troubles in the race…and Dart Wuffy moved up two spots to take fifth. Wildfox is in sixth, Jackie Rae moves up two positions to seventh, Oren four positions to eighth, Croco up two positions to ninth, and Eric’s disappointing finish dropped him down two places into tenth.

With the rookies, Harry is still holding onto the points lead there.
